@frmarcellinus The great Alleluia, the Hallelujah chorus and Worthy is the lamb (usually sang at the Easter mass during the day) I miss Triduim / Easter in Lagos 🥹🥹
1. Good afternoon my people. How you dey? Today is quiet sha. Normal Holy Saturday vibes. Lemme gist you about what will take place in church this evening. It's very interesting: the Easter vigil. It is called the Mother of All Vigils. The mass long but you no go feel am at all. The experience is heavenly.
2. The night begins with the Service of Light. The church starts in total darkness to represent the world without Christ. Outside, there's a bon fire 🔥. The priest blesses it and lights the Paschal Candle, which represents Jesus, the Light of the World. You can buy a candle stick at the parish bookshop or so.
3. Everyone processes into the dark church. Fada go chant, "Lumen Christi," your response go be "Deo Gratias." The light from the Paschal Candle is shared with the small candles held by the congregation until the whole room is glowing. Then the Exsultet is chanted ❤️.
4. Next is the Liturgy of the Word. There are usually seven (7) Old Testament readings with their Responsorial Psalms and prayers (some parishes might shorten it to three). Person ask me if I go shorten my own. I laugh 😆.
5. After the final Old Testament reading, the bells ring, the keyboard and musical instruments roar back to life, and the "Gloria" is sung. This is the official "The wait is over" moment. Then the New Testament reading from Romans 6 is taken, it comes with a Responsorial Psalm. The Alleluia is sung for the first time since before Lent, and the priest reads the Gospel account of the empty tomb.
6. Baptism: We ask all the saints in heaven to pray for those about to be baptized (The Litany of Saints). People who have been preparing for months (Catechumens) are baptized. Everyone else stands up and renews their own baptismal vows. The priest usually walks around and sprinkles the whole crowd with holy water.
7. From here, the mass flows as normal, but with a lot more joy.
The newly initiated members receive their First Communion. The service ends with a big blessing. The "Alleluia" is added to the final dismissal. And everyone goes to their papa house with joy 😊.
8. Now you're ready smile.
Somewhere in Nigeria this Good Friday morning, one woman has already woken her children to peel beans
They’ll make moi moi with egg and crayfish, later in the evening she’ll cook snail sauce for rice… all because she needs to keep today holy by avoiding anything with blood
That person is my mother
Ubi Caritas by Jacques Berthier.
On this Maundy Thursday, we reflect on this beautiful Latin Piece- “Ubi Caritas et amor, Deus ibi est” meaning “where charity and love are, God is there.
Let’s love altogether.

Feet. Again, I’m reminded that should first explore parishes within Nigeria to experience the triduim. Unfortunately, the insecurity in this country is a big hindrance 😩🥲
Still on my Holy Thursday experience in the east, This is the first time since I can remember that I didn’t hear Jude Nnam’s “Lord do you wash my feet”😂😂😂
You know the popular “whatsoever you do, to the least of my brothers….” Yes that’s what we sang during the washing of
The President of a nation arranged victims of insurgence at an airport and he had to rub it in their faces that “you have no light”.
Tinubu is heartless!
Ire o✌🏽
Do you people understand how wild this is????
A sitting president visited a state where people are being killed and decided to talk to the victims from the bloody airport!!!!!
Still has the audacity to say he has to go back soon as the airport doesn’t have light😩😩😩
Then he says sorry to the victims that he has nothing to give them but promises it won’t happen again
Enters the plane and flies back.
This is officially a Banana republic. How can a president be so tone deaf
Judas is lucky that he didn't betray Jesus in this APC government. He could've betrayed on credit, only for them to bathe him with teargas when he comes to ask for his money.
Plans. I’m experiencing the triduim in the east for the 1st time in my life. Like say they charity begins at home😂😂😂
After this maybe I’ll be able to travel to Spain next year for the triduim😂😂
Two years ago, I remember putting up a video on TikTok saying I wanted to experience the triduim in another country especially to just know what hymns they’ll sing in core parts of mass like washing of feet, veneration of the cross…you get what I mean..I think God had other
