Iran has asked for guarantees in any deal with US. Word is that Pakistan Foreign Minister is going to Beijing to get a guarantor for the potential deal. Likely that is Iran’s condition for talks with US. And FM would not be going to China without having floated the idea with both Washington and Beijing. No guarantees of China biting but Beijing is now the frontline in the diplomatic effort

I think the Indian fixation with Pakistan today isn’t some cold, rational doctrine. It is deeply political, shaped to appease a domestic right wing Hindutva constituency. That framing needs a perpetual adversary, not a resolution and it's playing out well for BJP. Also, reducing everything to “Pakistan is perfidious” is intellectually lazy. What you call terrorism has long been treated as a proxy conflict on both sides. India was good at hiding it. Not anymore. Denying that reality doesn’t make it disappear.. Pakistan has to a large extent moved beyond its New Delhi obsession. India, despite being the larger power, clearly hasn’t. Just Turn on your TV and watch your films etc.
