According to the findings, drinking just one can of cola is associated with a 12-minute reduction in life expectancy. Backed by data from the University of Leicester, this figure represents the cumulative metabolic damage caused by high sugar intake — including increased risks of insulin resistance, obesity, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes. While the “12 minutes per can” headline is designed to grab attention, experts stress that the real danger lies in daily habits.
