Anonymity ain't something people seek because they have something to hide. It's something free people value because they have something worth protecting. The Founding Fathers(yes, I compare what PF is doing to what the FFs did. fuck off) didn't sign their names to every pamphlet. They wrote with "Publius" and a dozen other pen names because they understood something a lot of you are forgetting... Speaking truth to power gets you targeted. The Federalist Papers, some of the most important political writing this country has ever produced, were published anonymously for exactly that reason. Free speech that forces you to attach your name, address, and employer to every opinion isn't really free. It'sa motherfucking trap dressed up as a right. That's the tradition anonymity comes from. It's not some loophole for criminals, terrorists, and "Nazis", It's a shield for patriots, whistleblowers, dissidents, abuse victims, journalists, and ordinary people who don't want their boss, their neighbors, or their government keeping tabs on them like a motherfucking Black Mirror episode-and punishing them for exercising rights that are supposed to be guaranteed! When every opinion has to have a name attached, people stop saying what they're really thinking. They start worrying about how the world sees them instead of being honest. That ain't a free society functioning well, it's a free society quietly strangling itself. This ain't a new problem, but it's a glaring one now. Constant digital tracking and instant public shaming, have made exposure cheaper and retaliation faster than the Founding Fathers ever had to deal with. If every signer of the Declaration was forced to post their name and address publicly before the ink dried, they'd have probably thought more than twice, and history would look very different, and we'd probably all have British accents. Anonymity today serves the same function it always has: it lets people push back against power without the pushback costing them their job, their safety, or their life. Get it, retards?
