Fwiw the Pakistani military is the only secular element in Pakistani society guaranteeing safety and security of the Hindu minority therein. This is especially true when compared to the general population which holds highly extremist opinions especially when it comes to religion. The issue that Global Hindudom may have with the State of Pakistan is not Kashmir or even militancy in India but the Two Nation Theory. The Do Quami Nazariya undoubtedly does contain an element of Racial supremacist ideas. While generally credited to Sir Syed, it's just an updation of the ideas propounded by revivalists like Shah Waliullah Dehlavi, Syed Ahmed Barelwi & Shah Ismail Dehlavi while differing with their militant approach of armed resistance (& was based on cooperation with the colonial authorities). When put into practice it's effects have been ethnic cleansing of Hindu & Sikh minorities in the partition violence as well as when the pro Pak movement began in Kashmir. The Pakistani military having been an institution based on British ideas & legacy (Pakistan has maintained colonial era Battle Honors & commemorations unlike India) is a Secular institution & is very different from it's society. The Pakistani military also has strong relations with the militaries of countries like Turkey, UK & the USA which acts as another secularizing & modernizing influence on it. Ilyas Kashmiri (who inspired Major Iqbal in this movie) later joined the TTP & tried to assassinate Musharraf himself. He was killed in an American drone strike with the tacit approval of the Pakistani military. The TTP, TLP & other such extremist organisations have their ideological origins from the revivalists & see the military as unbelievers. Global Hindudom especially in the USA must engage with the Pakistani establishment & get it to slowly junk the Two Nation Theory & soothe their society's paranoia over Hindu influence. The Constitution needs to be secular & the Hindu legacy needs to be publicly celebrated & incorporated into national mythology & pop culture like Indonesia (especially Java). Just like many Indonesians, there are also many Pakistanis (especially amongst the educated class) who are curious & wish to learn & some even reconnect with the faith of their ancestors. Akin to the Sikh diaspora gaining access to some of their temples, the Hindu community in the USA ought to engage in restoration of all temples & temple lands regaining ownership away from the Evacuee Trust Property Board.
