holy fuck, a hair dryer at a Paris airport broke Polymarket weather markets & made someone $34,000 richer
- polymarket was settling Paris temperature bets on a single Météo France sensor sitting near the Charles de Gaulle runway perimeter - basically unguarded
- the guy bought the long-shot outcome (like "22°C" when everyone expected 18°C) for pennies, since nobody thought it'd hit
- then he walked up to the probe and briefly heated the air around it with a portable heat source, spiking the reading just long enough to register as the daily max
- temperature snapped back to normal in minutes, the market resolved in his favor, and he cashed out - twice, on April 6 and April 15, before Météo France caught on and filed charges

IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATE FROM THE LODGE AUSTIN Out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing temporarily at 5pm due to current weather conditions and for the safety of our guests and employees. With this in mind, we are cancelling all tournaments through Monday. For the $150,000 GTD Opening tournament, we will be paying out all bagged players via an ICM chop. We have collected $97,755 in entry fees. We will be adding $2,245 to get the prize pool to $100,000. We will also be adding 10 seats to the $600 buy-in, $250,000 GTD RunGood Main Event next week (for the 10 biggest stacks). We will be counting chip stacks and notifying bagged players individually this afternoon. Our hope is to have players be able to collect their winnings on Monday, weather permitting. We’re truly sorry to everyone who has been impacted. We know many of you planned your day around this, and this is the last outcome we wanted, but safety must come first.
