Day 1 - #Kashmir 🍁 Today’s visit to Soibugh & Narbal villages, Budgam was deeply meaningful. We finalized two new learning centres with computers and digital classrooms that will soon begin in the schools, a sincere step toward strengthening educational support where it is needed most. When resources are limited, I’ve learned that what sustains us is courage. And somehow, when the path feels uncertain, that courage finds its way to us. I truly believe that in moments of scarcity, we are often blessed not with abundance, but with the strength and resolve to keep moving forward. Each time I visit a village that calls for intervention, I see it as a calling. It feels like a responsibility entrusted to me, a quiet mission to do the very best I can within my capacity. Change may not happen overnight, but commitment, consistency, and compassion always leave a mark. The people of the Kashmir Valley continue to touch my heart. Their warmth, hospitality, and resilience are humbling. Despite challenges, they welcome you with such openness & grace. It is their trust and love that make this journey not only purposeful, but profoundly rewarding. Grateful for today. I am deeply grateful to have been part of Spark 2026 in Dubai and to have attended the Global @teacherprize ceremony. @varkeyfdn @fundacionvarkey In times of war and global uncertainty, the right to education is not optional it is essential. I had the honor of speaking in a workshop focused on health and wellbeing as preconditions for learning, alongside , Joshue Castellanos Paternina, and Jasmyn Nicole Wright. Together, we reflected on the growing realities of stress, anxiety, burnout, and disengagement affecting both students and educators and on the urgent need to place human wellbeing at the center of learning. Being surrounded by such inspiring voices, and meeting new finalists from every corner of the world, was a powerful reminder that education remains one of humanity’s most resilient forces. It sustains dignity, protects hope, and quietly shapes the future even in the most difficult times. Education is, ultimately, an act of inspiration an invocation of what humanity can still become. And to all the finalists of 2026: no matter if you were Top 10, Top 50, or the winner you are the reason this world can be better. When I was a finalist in 2017, I gained far more than recognition. I gained a global community of agents of change through education. That community endures, inspires, and continues to prove that lasting change begins in the classroom and echoes far beyond it.
