The answer is "no!"
But we need to do it right.
In particular, if regulations make it difficult for open source AI platforms to exist, it will lead to a world in which all of our information diet will be controlled by a small number of closed and proprietary systems.
That would be very dangerous for democracy and cultural diversity.
We need free and diverse AI assistants for the same reason we need a free and diverse press.

our industry should be united in our support of these colleagues; it is an atrocious time. i continue to hope for a real and lasting peace, and that in the meantime we can treat each other with empathy.
