If the United States truly thinks about withdrawing from NATO, then European security will be based solely on the European Union. But not in its current form. I think that the EU is in a situation where it needs more countries.
The UK, Ukraine, Türkiye, and Norway. These are four strong countries, which are part of Europe. Together, the UK, Ukraine, and Türkiye have armies that are stronger than Russia's army. Without Ukraine and Türkiye, Europe can’t match Russia. With the four countries on board you can wrest control of the seas, have secure skies and the largest land forces.
It’s not about offense, because when Russia makes the decision to have an army of 2.5 million people by 2030, Europe has to think about security and how to preserve its independence. The UK once was a member of the EU. There are concerns about agriculture when it comes to Türkiye. But you can manage all of this if you have a really great economy. But security comes first, economy second. Not vice versa.

I told our American partners they could understand whether Putin wanted peace by finding answers to the issues as follows:
First, try to organize a meeting at the level of leaders to discuss territories. Putin has refused.
Second, if he doesn't want to continue the aggression after a ceasefire, propose deploying American and European soldiers along the contact line. Putin’s response was, “No, no foreign soldiers of any kind”. Why? This can only mean he wants to go forward.
Third, he has around 17 million square kilometers of land. Yet, he tells Americans, “Look, what’s the problem? It's only about 6,000 square kilometers”. Can you imagine that someone who has millions of square kilometers, 70% of which is underdeveloped and doesn’t have proper infrastructure, is asking for more? Do we really believe that all he needs is an additional 5,800 square kilometers?
This is not his goal. Donbas is a strategic place in Ukraine. Once he has our industrial cities and fortifications in the region, there are only open fields and direct roads to our regional capitals. What I mean is that we understand why he wants Donbas.

Pakistan’s FM Ishaq Dar and France's FM Jean-Noel Barrot have “expressed concern over serious ceasefire violations made in Lebanon.”
France argues that the ceasefire should include Lebanon, after the US and Israel said it doesn't.

When Ukraine agreed to give up nuclear weapons, the price that the other side had to pay had to be fair. I think NATO membership was the smallest thing leaders of Ukraine had to get in exchange for the nuclear arms. What did we get? Nothing. It was not a fair game, and a big mistake.
Not only a Ukrainian mistake, but also a mistake by other signatories of the Budapest Memorandum. These are nuclear countries. If they asked you to give up nuclear weapons, they should have provided you with a security umbrella. Perhaps a nuclear umbrella.
Ultimately, all of it was a deception. Our nuclear weapons were largely transferred to Russia. For example, strategic aircraft that Russia now uses against us in this war.

I think that Putin understands he can't fully occupy Ukraine. It’s just that sometimes he shares messages with our partners that are not what he truly thinks.
He suffers tremendous losses and doesn't have enough well-trained people on the battlefield. He is trying to find an off-ramp that looks like a victory. That's why he is trying to push us out of Donbas via diplomacy, through dialogue with the United States.
Because to fully occupy Donbas he would need to sacrifice between 300,000 and 1 million people, depending on how many years they would plan the operation for. This is a huge price to pay even for Putin.

The Russians know that if we withdraw from Donbas, it will divide our nation. Many people would be against it. If Ukraine’s unity is broken, Putin will come up with a new “blitzkrieg” to occupy Ukraine very quickly. Even if he doesn’t, he will use a subsequent pause to recruit more people, train them, ramp up the defense-industrial base, and get sanctions lifted. So a ceasefire in the format “stay where we stay” is not only our wish, it is in the interest of our partners too.
