The biggest risk, as far as sanctions are concerned, is in the financial system. SA's banking sector is deeply plugged into the USD framework, especially SWIFT.
Billions in international payments are moved there for food, fuel, tech and medicine.
I don't think the global capitalist establishment would want to separate from a country that has the strongest capital markets in Africa just because Elon Musk is throwing tantrums.
But then again, we should prepare for those sanctions.
