The federal government is targeting immigrants in ways that are not only cruel- they’re unconstitutional.
ICE’s aggressive tactics are tearing families apart, sowing fear in our neighborhoods, and undermining the very fabric our community.

@AlexPadilla4CA @SenAlexPadilla @ilike_mike Reaction from Assemblymember @AsmNickSchultz @VoteNickSchultz (D-Burbank):
“What we’re witnessing are the actions of a tyrant.”
His full statement here:

The Trump Administration is mobilizing and deploying the National Guard to Los Angeles. There is no insurrection. Residents of our state are coming together to call out injustices and violations of due process by ICE agents. What we’re witnessing are the actions of a tyrant.

It was an honor to join @SEIULocal99 for their education worker recognition lunch. Today we celebrated the bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, and many other essential school personnel who take care of our students daily. Their work is often undervalued and overlooked.

Let’s be accurate & honest - cutting all federal grant funding from CA is not a “policy disagreement.” It’s an illegal targeting of a US state by a vindictive, out-of-control president. And any rational Trump gives is just an excuse for him to hurt voters who don’t support him.

Gov. Newsom is reiterating an argument Speaker Rivas put forward earlier today. Does anyone know of this happening before (other than the Civil War): a state refusing to pay taxes over a policy disagreement?
