The £22bn black hole needs to be put to bed. Starmer first raised it in the house in relation to a quote from Richard Hughes but this quote (screenshot 1) was from this letter (screenshot 2) which is basically the OBR saying that if the Labour assertion is correct then….. it will be the largest… etc and that they will do a review. Then in Oct the author of that letter, when asked a direct question from Sophie Ridge at Sky News tells her that nothing in their review legitimises the £22bn black hole claim. Starmer keeps making the same claim week after week but the truth is that a large proportion of any black hole was caused by his and Rachel Reeves own policy decisions. x.com/skynews/status…

“I wanted to have more headroom [against the fiscal rules]” Chancellor Rachel Reeves says she did not mislead people in the run-up to the Budget and that the decisions she took were to build “economic resilience” #BBCLauraK bbc.co.uk/news/live/c4g4…

The Prime Minister lied. Labour will not be raising taxes on working people.
