In my mind, this was always going to be more of a marathon than a sprint. Things are so fucked up over there that I never expected this to be resolved and back to normal in a week. The haters are as loud as ever and the company is clearly still in survival mode. I know it feels hopeless and if you’re leaving now I don’t blame you. We have fought so hard and we are tired. If this is the end of your battle please take comfort in the fact that you were on the right side of history: the side that helped unite a divided community, raised money for good causes and showed his team and everyone behind the game that their work is loved all around the world and that the threats, abuse, and bullying they endured should never have been rewarded or tolerated. 🐺 Here is a list of actionable steps and important points to keep in mind to help support the push to reinstate Valko. I may update this, this is not an exhaustive list. Please remember that NOTHING is definitive yet, and we need to continue a POSITIVE push: 1️⃣ REVIEW FLOOD, NOT REVIEW BOMB: Instead of leaving angry 1-star reviews in the iOS and play store, update your ratings to 2-3 stars and in your review, say something like "The game quality is great but I'm saving my money specifically for Valko. Permanently canceling him removes my reason to continue to spend". This shows that you are NOT an anti-bot, and a paying customer that WOULD financially support his release. 1-star angry reviews are usually just removed en masse! 2️⃣ USE SAFE LANGUAGE - DO NOT ATTACK ANYONE OR ANY ENTITY AND BE RESPECTFUL: Don't attack the devs, reference politics, other regions, or players in your posts, instead focus on the quality of the game, narrative, and how this game and character is a vehicle for connection to Chinese media and culture. You can send emails and customer support tickets and say stuff like: "We support the studio's safety, but want the original high quality story, content, and the 6 love interests as planned". This is all really unfair and upsetting, but anti-bots can easily use our upset to fuel the fire and controversy even worse, by circulating any negative or aggressive sentiments towards the devs, politics, and the CN side overall to sow further division. 3️⃣ KEEP USING THE HASHTAGS, DISCUSSIONS, FANART, AND BE POSITIVE ABOUT THEIR IMPACT: We've already seen how much our efforts have changed public opinion, encouraged a vast amount of CN players to openly speak out and join our efforts, and have already changed the decision from a "no" to being uncertain with silence, which is a HUGE step. Even popular streamers have shared their support in this movement, and now on the CN side AND globally we are all making it clear how much we love and want this character, what they mean to us, and they are still WATCHING. 4️⃣ SHOW THAT YOU WILL FINANCIALLY SUPPORT VALKO'S DEBUT: We all know that money talks, that's really what matters most, but global revenue IS still a large percentage of it. Even many CN players that are heavy spenders are boycotting. Gacha companies like this look at future revenue projections, so be positive but share in posts and reviews that you're only saving for Valko's release, myths, and want to financially support this character. 🐺 NOTE: YOU SHOULD CONTINUE TO BOYCOTT! Don't spend any more money on this game, but be positive and make clear you will with Valko's release. We want to support the game with this character as originally planned! There are many fair criticisms about how things have been handled, and developed to this point, I'm not saying to make excuses for any of it or blindly defend anyone. However, public opinion MATTERS, its how things even got to this point. But we can also continue to CHANGE public opinion, and that is the support and leverage Infold needs to justify Valko's release. Right now, Infold/Papergames likely cannot do or say much because everything is so fresh and still developing, even reaching the point where Shanghai police have had to get involved for the studio's safety. It will probably risk reigniting anti-bot movements and its probably for safety risks atm. Things didn't need to get this bad, but now they have to navigate all of this carefully, and they ARE watching. Canceling Valko's release is a tremendous financial loss, in addition to boycott responses. They likely WANT to do so, but need a little time and the leverage of global public opinion. Keep helping our CN sisters, and expressing the above points! Please take breaks as needed. 🐺 Your CALM COPEIUM: Several things going around are obviously upsetting people and causing anxiety, but let's look at them another way: * The removal of the "coming soon". - Well, if this is/was Valko's update, that WOULD have already been written to be removed because he is no longer "coming soon" - he'd be there. They probably never touched that as it was going to be that way anyway. *The download didn't add Valko. -The file size is BIG. It's entirely possible he is in there, just not released. Infold may be holding that as an option as things cool down, and as they watch and evaluate the financial hit and continued interest or not. *Valko's channel removed from Discord. -IF they release him sometime, it would be a fresh start. They don't want old remnants to clutter what could be a "relaunch". I don't take that as a negative. *The letter from the Ministry regarding Infold and the "harmful material". -I read this purely as a censure letter, a slap on the wrist. It's face-saving and provided steps to take to rectify the situation, which Infold has been doing. Nowhere in it (that I saw) did it forbid his return. *Infold's silence. -This is in poor taste, but they are probably scrambling to prioritize fixing their image locally without stirring up more trouble while they try to comply with what they've been told to work on. Sadly, we may just have to wait for official acknowledgement one way or the other, but we can keep our voices heard. (Lastly, and I haven't personally verified yet, but if Valko's texts are still in the game, the countdown ones... that's a spark of something.)
