@WhatYouWatchN I find it interesting that the defense is attacking things like chain of custody at this point in a trial. Seems rather pointless after a guilty plea.

The defense starts with asking about chain of custody and preventing contamination. Ends with questions about why she was demoted. She lied to her superiors about letting an intern take photos at another crime scene. Cross ends at the lunch break #AthenaStrand

Catching up late, Sgt. Brett Yaro appeared to be the last witness of the day after lunch. Discussed forensic evidence he collected. Cross is about chain of custody, integrity of the evidence. Court ended. Yaro will be back on the stand Monday #AthenaStrand

The defense keeps emphasizing how they “rolled up” in this residential neighborhood. Baby they could have pulled up in a tank for all I care if it meant finding #AthenaStrand. TF. If I’m on the jury, miss lady is getting the side eye from me.

After a break, the next witness is from CSI. Direct is mostly about chain of custody and her role in collecting evidence. Before passing the witness, DA questioned the investigator about a disciplinary action that resulted in her demotion. Unrelated to this case. #AthenaStrand

Same FBI Agent is back on the stand. Testifying about delivery vehicle searches. SD cards were removed from the surveillance system. Search photos shown. Evidence was recovered from the vehicle. On cross, defense asks about chain of custody for the forensic evidence #AthenaStrand

Court ends for the day after photos of evidence from the defendant’s home. I don’t think the FBI agent is done testifying but I’m not sure because there was no sound #AthenaStrand

Another FBI Special Agent. He assisted in the search of the defendant’s home. He describes it as messy, lots of trash. Related evidence was found. Photos of the house are shown, over the defense’s previous objection. Messy is an understatement #AthenaStrand

Lt. Sherman is respectfully having none of it. Defense moves on after objection. Defense asks if exigent circumstances, which allows a warrantless search, still exist if the missing person is located. He says it depends on the case. Next witness #AthenaStrand

Lt. Sherman was there when defendant’s house was searched. He spoke with the defendant’s mom, grandma and brother. They agreed to turn over their phones. House photo shown. The defense is making a big deal about the police response. And ma’am I beg your pardon #AthenaStrand

Lt. Sherman of Texas Dept. of Public Safety is up next. He worked with the intelligence and cøunterterrørism division for potential online leads. The defendant was person of interest. Social media platforms were contacted to preserve his accounts. #AthenaStrand

Taylor Paige was the first FBI agent. The defendant’s device was found within a virtual fence. A few locations of interest were identified from the device, BoBo crossing included. Cross is one question, if Paige made the request to T-Mobile. He did. Next witness #AthenaStrand

During the interview the defendant wanted to “cut a deal” He wanted to be on ankle monitor so he could be free to spend time with his family over the holidays. If they agreed to that, he’d tell them everything. Deplorable #AthenaStrand

The defense objects to the next witness. An FBI agent. Makes argument that no FBI agents should be allowed to testify. The DA asks that it not be discussed in front of the jury. The judge playfully yells to the jury “Go to your room!” Everyone laughs. Off the record #AthenaStrand

Redirect is met with many objections. The defense doesn’t like that her narrative isn’t sticking. The DA calls the lies uncooperative. Points out that the wild goose chase the rangers were sent on doesn’t really show remorse. Recross then re-redirect. Next witness #AthenaStrand
