Magic players, AITA in this situation? In commander, after getting targeted randomly (someome is always first) and falling behind. Everyone continued to swing in at me (unprovoked) dumped all removals on me while other threats are on board. So, I tried to shield myself by cutting a deal to make the other +1 counter player super ahead by proliferating his cards while his counter doubler is active. They are like why would I do that? Me: Hey heres the deal, if they hit me with 4+ damage, I’ll prolif your board while you have a Token doubler and Miles and double that. All You just have to do is not hit me (you dont even need to hit them) If I don’t take damage or if you hit me, I won’t proliferate. just ignore me while I am down. Deal is set. The 2 that attacked was like: why would you make that deal? Me: You guys are invading me, so I am seeking help either he becomes a SUPER Threat, if you hit me, we can shuffle up a new one or if you don’t we can grind out this one. What did I do to get targeted? I cast Forgotten ancient turn 3 (swords-ed, right away, fair play), Ingenious Prodigy with 1 counter and Tidus turn 4 (path-ed, while a 5/5 flying melee was on board) 2 players kept swinging threw every removal at me to the point Im top decking, I’m empty., so I amphibious down everyone’s commander to slow them down after being a punching bag for 2 turn cycles. I drew into Karn’s Bastion. Life total 39,41,38,20, yes I was the 20. So I tried to cut a protection deal so I could maybe play try and rebuild. The other 2 continued to Swing at me. So I proliferated twice to give like +8 to 3 creatures, on the +1 Counter player side for him just one shot the other 2 letting me die last. They said I was mad I bricked and just wanted to reset the game. Either I live to play more cards at the table OR help end it. Note the was the first game of the night, am I the buthole in that game?

Is there actually a choice based game where your choices ACTUALLY REALLY matter? Like, the story is actually significantly different. No Telltale or LIS game has achieved this. LiS2 probably sold the illusion the best. Until Dawn and Heavy Rain maybe?

@KingScarletYGO Think of commander more like if it was a boardgame played with TCG pieces. The more popular version of it at least is more a social thing, "get together with friends and play".

@SpoopyBoopys Making it no-pendulum no-link is a nostalgia-bait approach that hurts the format. Modern card design takes into account that some things are easily outable via links and some decks randomly contain a pendulum. We have to let go of the 40-year-something Edison-goat playerbase.

Genesys haters, I have a question- why? Saw a bunch of people at my local saying that Genesys “isn’t a real format” and calling it “modern but worse”. Do people not realize that even if it is a smaller format, it has a metagame with interesting and interactive gameplay?
