BREAKING: 🇺🇸 The S&P 500 just hit a NEW ALL-TIME HIGH of 7003 amid the US-Iran war. The US stock market pulled off one of the biggest reversals in history.

The S&P 500 has rebounded strongly from its March 30 eight-month low, rising more than 10% to close above 7,000 at new record highs. The selloff was slightly deeper and longer than usual.

The UK’s ONS reported that Feb GDP grew 0.5%, well above the 0.1% forecast. GBP/USD showed little reaction and stayed just above 1.3550. EUR/USD remained in consolidation near 1.1800. Later today, the ECB will release the minutes from its March meeting. Gold (XAU/USD) fell about 1% on Wednesday, ending a two-day winning streak. Early Thursday, gold recovered slightly and traded above $4,800.

What Should Investors Watch During This Time? First, crude oil near $100 is the current balance point. Above $105 could revive rate-hike fears and pressure gold. Below $90 could support gold. Second, the ceasefire. New strikes, Hormuz disruptions, or failed talks could push gold lower. Third, watch economic data. The import price index and China’s industrial data will give clues on inflation.

On April 18, the Fed enters the FOMC blackout period. For 12 days until April 30, Fed officials cannot comment publicly on monetary policy. No speeches, interviews, or signals to guide markets. What does this mean for gold?
