Hundreds upon hundreds of Twitter employees have technically resigned but still have access to Twitter’s internal systems, with some speculating it is because the employees tasked with managing that access also resigned.

Default taskbar to left again with no change ever. Let users use a local windows account. Wow... Windows 11's so-called "new features" are all horrible... Guess I'm either old or I use a rare specimen called a "desktop" in these weird times...

Thinking about what would keep me on Windows let alone move to Windows 11... Remove advertisements from start menu and let me group pinned icons again. Let me change default apps easily. Let applications interface with the right-click menu again.

Now that I don't even use my own PC for work, the lack of Windows 10 feature updates mean I'm left without much to fiddle around with... But Windows 11 is frankly a can of worms that I'd rather not upgrade to even if it has features I want such as WSA and a new, responsive UI...

Taking a moment to think about how utterly crazy it is that in 2022 a company with a significant dataset of private and public communications, that has municipalities, companies and governments on the platform, can switch ownership with pretty much zero scrutiny

one of the most ominous papers i've read, where ppl training AI to discover ways to improve human health instead go "hm, i wonder what happens if we just flip the direction of training from 'help' to 'hurt'" nature.com/articles/s4225…

Needed to print for the first time in a while, and... Is Windows still failing at patching that print spooler bug?

@chronic Our IP doesn’t even offer IPv6 but the provided router supposedly technically supports it but they disabled it. Then there’s old game consoles including the Nintendo Switch (but others technically have their online services shut down now that I think about it).

thinking further on recent proposals for more IPv4 space, I am starting to think that designating 240/4 as RFC6598 shared (read: non-publicly routed) address space may not be such a bad idea.

@chronic Would be nice if every device one uses at home actually supports IPv6...

CORRECTION: I don't know why, but I hate you Oracle VirtualBox version 6.1.28 r147628 and your stupid `Failed to load R0 module` error.
