For those curious, the meeting with the trainer went really well. She's actually a board certified veterinary nurse & behavioral therapist. Fancy! She thinks there is absolutely no reason why Juniper can't live a full and happy life like any other dog despite her disabilities. She comes with a set of challenges just like any other puppy would- how we address things may look a bit different, but it's really not complicated! I have lots of homework to do and it's really important I socialize her as much as possible in these early weeks. My husband even got his boss to agree with letting him take her to work! The plan is to continue working with the trainer as well as enrolling Juniper in some puppy classes to ensure she's living life as fully as possible. Oh, and- the snuffle mat is a big hit!

@Weezulusmaximus @pill_swallow Your friend is good people! I think all dogs deserve a chance...in her case it may a bit easier because she's never known anything else so she's not distressed or confused about what's going on.

@pill_swallow @Wo_Mim A friend of mine had a retired greyhound that wasn’t treated well as a racing dog. She was blind, had no teeth and wasn’t in good shape. Nonetheless they gave her the best life and ignored the advice to let her go. I think it’s a matter of how much effort you’re willing to put in
