This new viral Ai Slop blends two very different things… The elegant Borzoi dog breed and the tragic history of Concorde supersonic airliner, specifically “Air France Flight 4590”.
The Core Meme: “Borzoi Concorde”
Borzoi (also called Russian Wolfhounds) has become a popular internet meme subject for years because of their long, narrow, aristocratic faces (“snoots”), silky coats and graceful yet slightly uncanny appearance.
“Borzoi Concorde” (or “Air Borzoi”). It started appearing around 2023 on Reddit and spread to X/Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
Air France Flight 4590 was the only fatal Concorde accident. On July 25, 2000, the supersonic jet took off from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport bound for New York. A tire burst on the runway, flinging debris into a fuel tank, which ignited. The plane lifted off with visible fire trailing from the left wing/engine area, struggled to climb, stalled and crashed into a hotel in Gonesse, killing all 109 people on board and 4 on the ground.
The post from @alphafox is a modern day update that expands the same joke into motion:
• A giant white Borzoi-dog hybrid airplane (long snoot as the nose, dog body as the fuselage, legs as landing gear).
• It “boards” passengers through its open mouth (stairs appear inside the jaws).
• It then runs down the runway on all fours like a dog before taking off and flying.
• The overall shape and vibe clearly riff on the Concorde aesthetic (sleek white livery, delta-ish wings, pointed profile).
The video is just the latest animated evolution of a meme that’s been floating around since at least 2023.
Some viewers love the creativity, others call it Ai generated nonsense (but you can’t deny how much it’s blowing up over the internet).
The White House also recently posted about “The Return of Supersonic Flight” which is adding to the memes popularity.
