@XhangoGames I luckily bypass that step, but even back in the day I never believed in sell sheets. I made them, but they didn't do much for me to be very honest.

@shiny_press Mostly legacy imo, but the math for rolling for stats is flatter, and it allows for more ability damage numbers

From a game design standpoint, why are DnDs ability açores built like that (scores and modifiers) instead of flat modifiers? Just legacy?

@scrollforinit Yeah I agree. I feel like all the D&D spinoffs are going the action point route, but imo bonus actions and multiple actions are a huge issue in making combat take too long

It's definitly weird that WotC has lost it's presentend and their Executive Producer (yesterday) just before the launch of #DnD 2024. People are going to talk about all kinds of non-sense speculation as to why. They don't know anything. It is strange thought.

@XhangoGames The book is The Steerswoman, one of the most refreshing fantasy books I've read in ages. The game is Frog For Whom The Bell Tolls. It was never released in English, but I found a fan translation. It's got a lot of early 2D Zelda (links awakening) in its DNA

For the first time in months, I'm loving both the book I'm reading AND the game I'm playing

I'm running a steampunk #dnd5e campaign right now where each session is an episode where I describe a quest that the party has ALREADY ACCEPTED and then they go on the adventure. This is straight-up railroading. Everyone loves it. Ask me anything.
