@Keir_Starmer @England England the only nation in the tournament without its own national democracy, parliament, First Minister or even national anthem. Make England proud by addressing these injustices.

An interesting poll. Support for Scottish independence rises from 54% to 59% if Scotland is an independent Scottish republic. The Monarchy is often regarded as one of the lynchpins of Britishness, but what if it isn't?
Scottish Greens@scottishgreens

An independent Scottish republic? A huge majority would support independence if it also meant removing the King as head of state. A newly independent Scotland must be based on a foundation equality and democracy. These principles are simply incompatible with monarchy.

@GerryHassan There comes a time when there's nothing British left to sell, or collectively identify with.

The broken British consensus on show on #BBC #PoliticsLive. The entire panel: Labour, Tory, Reform, see nothing wrong in selling off Royal Mail to foreign ownership & Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky. Showing what is wrong with UK politics. Ownership of national assets matters.

What British institutions are left to sell? Is it just the Royal Family that isn't in foreign ownership now? It all contributes to the diminution of our collective sense of Britishness, assuming you have any that is.

103 years ago today. The Anglo-Irish Treaty was signed on December 6, 1921 ending the Irish War of Independence and established the Irish Free State and paved the way for the the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (est. 1927). rte.ie/centuryireland…

Does the UK state still have your allegiance? "Devolution took place within a state recognized as possessing authority and the new arrangements continue to acknowledge it. The key concept here is not identity but allegiance. Nationalism is a political project to engineer the conformity of identity and allegiance. Britishness means diverse national identities within a common sovereign allegiance." - Prof Arthur Aughey

The government must address the elephant in the waiting room and act on the social care crisis before it is too late. Exempting care from the national insurance hike is a crucial step to ensuring we get our health service back on its feet.

She identifies Roger Scruton as one of the main influences on her politics, so perhaps now is an opportune moment to remind @KemiBadenoch of his views on the subject. "Since no member of the political class wishes to create an English Parliament, then the only way forward is to have a real referendum on the Union, in which we English have a vote. Everything to date has been in the hands of the Scots. Why should we not be asked in our turn whether we wish to retain the union? I think that, if we were asked, and no one has done anything to rectify the monstrous injustice under which we English labour, the right way to vote is for separation." - Roger Scruton, Open Democracy, 20 February 2012 opendemocracy.net/en/opendemocra…
