I’ve now seen multiple videos of tourists here for the World Cup saying “I’ve been surprised” when referring to how kind & welcoming the American people have been. The narrative about the world hating us is coming from inside our house. A narrative based on politics, not reality.

We're getting a sense of just how anti-American the international media is during this World Cup. People outside the US are fed a narrative and image of the US that gets blown up if you actually spend time here in person. The media is so corrupt.

Some of these US world cup stadia are absolutely stunning. Fair play to America for building these monumental sporting cathedrals. Imagine if that country invested at such a level in its healthcare and education systems. #WorldCup

As an American, any animosity with Britain has long been resigned to comical 4th of July attire or the occasional Mel Gibson movie, and we’ve long considered you guys to be some of our closest friends. Which is why it’s so painful to watch you guys die slowly by suicidal empathy and impotence. Nothing short of heartbreaking. You guys should at least put up a fight. If your culture somehow survives this… never, ever, let a government disarm your populace again. A government should fear its citizens, not the other way around.

The British Isles are beginning to remember what every civilization eventually remembers: A government that cannot protect its people eventually loses the moral authority to govern them. Everything that follows is just the timetable.

Seeing people glaze NRG makes me think 2 things: 1. Are we ungrateful in Houston and America at large about how good our stadiums are? 🧐 2. Just how bad are stadiums overseas 🤔

I think a lot of Americans in the USA 🇺🇸 are discovering that the World Cup isn’t just football. It’s one of the few things that can make millions of people care about countries they’ve never thought about before and we know NFL and NBA can’t give you that
