@MattZeitlin The domestic league is so lucrative that they can offer Mexican players outsized wages to stay and stunt their development (Similar problem to Egypt). Also Serie A level youth integration, further hampering development.

@Cav408 @kiddermy @_Ventfull_ The real problem this summer is the cash crunch among the non-PL big clubs (esp Spain & Italy). Not just an Arsenal thing, but some contracts they may want to move will be especially tough sells this summer and idk if they can be trusted to execute. Havertz is first to mind here

@kiddermy @_Ventfull_ That's why you always got refresh the squad come summer. Cant go in with all the same players especially after multiple seasons of underperforming. Problem is we aren't cutthroat in just moving on from average players and hang on for too long not allowing us to make moves.

It could lead to an underperforming Ligue 1 style setup (worsening COL crisis will lead to a higher propensity to pirate) killing the media rights base and giving the clubs less of an evidence base to sell commercial rights.

@HendrickD82 He really isn’t, I’m almost sure at this pt the LFC interest is them keeping tabs on negotiations to price their other options. It seems like they are committed to Wirtz in that 10 type of role, and I don’t see how they watch this season and not conclude that they need workhorses

And the 6 doesn't need to be Caicedo in either scenario.

@Jack_Moore7 2nd forward would be a versatile RW/ST/Right sided attacker. Definitely narrows down the search criteria, list of suitable candidates could probably fit on one hand. I suspect the management team are pretty high on one of Wright or Danns (if healthy) siezing their opportunities

@disgame23 Tons of other variables to this, everything from differences in genetics, the surgery itself and the body’s response to it, any setbacks in recovery, etc. No surgery is a carbon copy of another, only time will tell how similar it can be, esp. given that the teams handle recovery.

This is huge. Tatum looks exactly the same after the injury last May. If he gets a similar physiotherapy treatment he should be fine

@AnfieIdFix Szobo in 1v1s is something i never want to lay eyes on again. Highkey if Madrid find the money and are interested I could see us selling to them to replace Cama, would be a good excuse to add a Coutinho style poison pill clause to our business with them.

Szobo should probably be converted into a RB, and then all we really need this summer is a midfielder who compliments Jones well in the double pivot. Build the midfield around him.

Curtis Jones is one of the most under-appreciated midfielders in Europe, full stop. All of his advanced progressive, pass accuracy, and on-ball value metrics like VAEP have been on-par with whoever pops into your head when you think of 'best current midfield maestro'. He's not without his limitations; but given the style of football Arne Slot wants to play, the mediocre performance of the main midfield two this season, Slot's over-reliance on them over the past two seasons from a minutes perspective, and just simply Jones' currently level... he should already be playing the minutes he wants/deserves. Pair him with an all-action, bull-in-a-china-shop 8 and you could sort the midfield for extremely cheap.

4 players for a standing budget of ~150M +- sales (anticipating a CM to leave between Mac and Jones), if we pick our targets right we can make it work.
