I’ve seen some people suggesting different creative solutions for Raphinha’s absence, Cancelo at left wing, Olmo, Roony… but honestly, I don’t agree with that approach. We signed a natural left winger like Rashford for situations exactly like this. When your starter is out, the most logical solution is to rely on his direct replacement, not start reinventing the system. This is precisely the moment he was brought in for. Instead of overthinking and experimenting, we should trust him and give him the responsibility to step up.

At first glance, if you only look at Asllani’s height or a couple of his goals, you might think he’s a traditional “pure” striker. But in reality, his profile is more of a a mobile, hybrid striker who likes to drop deep, link play, and combine with teammates rather than staying fixed between the centre-backs. That said, his box presence isn’t poor either. He’s not dominant, but he’s still effective. He averages a good number of touches inside the opponent’s box compared to many similar players. He’s basically not the type to physically battle defenders for 90 minutes instead, he relies on blind-side runs, as he's so good at starting from deeper positions, then making late runs that always catch defenders off guard. So overall, he’s not the exact “pure striker” profile I ideally prefer for Flick's system. But I don’t necessarily have an issue with a more mobile striker either, as long as he still provides enough presence in the box. And given his age, he still has room to develop, especially in learning how to better use his height and physical tools in those situations, he could potentially grow into a complete striker.

One player I’ve seen a lot of people mention as a CB target, but I’ve barely talked about, is Luka Vušković. I’m not doubting his talent at all. I’ve watched him a few times and he clearly has huge potential. But there are two main issues that make me hesitant. First, he’s right-footed, and I think what we need more right now is a left-footed CB to balance the backline. Second, his age. I know it sounds strange to say this, but in our situation, being young is actually a downside. What we need at CB isn’t another prospect, it’s experience. Not necessarily someone in their 30s, but definitely not another teenager. We need a more mature, experienced defender to partner our 19-year-old Cubarsí and bring leadership and stability to the defense, and Vušković simply doesn’t provide that right now.

I’m really curious to hear Flick’s opinion on all these transfer sagas. What signings does he actually want? Does he prioritize a centre-back or a striker? And for both positions, what kind of profile is he looking for? Does he have any personal recommendations? Is he even convinced by Bastoni? And most importantly, who is his preferred striker target, Álvarez, Osimhen or someone else? What I find strange is that we almost never hear anything about Flick’s stance on these matters. There are barely any reports or leaks about his preferences, even though he’s arguably the one these decisions should be built around.
