@crea_tiffany I used to chase impressions too. It feels productive, but it’s mostly noise. Following is slower, but it builds depth. And depth compounds. If you’re building something long-term, vanity metrics will distract you faster than failure.

How often do you actually check your Following tab? I used to be obsessed with hunting bangers on FYP, hours scrolling, dropping thoughtful comments, scoring 200K-view replies, hitting 5M impressions to unlock monetization. It brought reach, a few followers, brand exposure. But I stopped. Now I live in Following. Why it’s infinitely better? FYP traps you in echo chambers. Like one Epstein post, your whole feed becomes conspiracy spam. Like one payout screenshot, flooded with winner porn for days. Engage once with drama, grifters and toxic accounts own your timeline for a week. You’re not supporting real creators. 
You’re not meeting like-minded people. 
You’re not learning. 
You’re just feeding a soulless algorithm while ignoring the small accounts who actually care about you. Your real supporters, the ones who followed because they want to know you, who show up when life kicks you down, are buried in Following. They’re the ones who deserve your attention first. Big accounts treat you like an engagement bot. 
Small accounts treat you like a real human with thoughts, pain, and value. Following feels alive. Raw. Like messages from actual friends. Impressions and likes fade into the background. Most “connections” I made chasing followers vanished the moment the algorithm stopped paying them. They were never here for you, they were here for premium impressions and monetization. But if you’re still posting original content after a year of shadowbans, demonetization, posting into the void, getting blocked and removed from groups, you’re real. I support real creators. That’s my line. People call us naive for valuing genuine work over grift. Fine. Laugh. But small creators: stop feeding toxic big accounts that steal content, farm engagement, and act entitled to your time. Look at Following today. 
Your biggest supporters are probably hurting. 
Give them love. Reply meaningfully. Watch real engagement grow. You have nothing to lose.
You’re already small. Already struggling.
 The only thing you gain is actual friends on X. I’m skeptical this platform will ever become a real hub of quality content like YTube. But I refuse to watch more good small creators quit in silence. To the grifters: we see you. Your tricks aren’t clever, they’re obvious. Your time is ending. Follower count doesn’t make you better. It just makes you louder. Choose real over viral. 
Choose Following. 
Choose the humans who chose you first.
