Yesterday defenders of democracy, today's destroyers, What a shame. What an irony of history, that the acclaimed defenders of democracy and human rights who claimed to have fought for democracy during the era of General Sani Abacha now find themselves worse than the man they opposed. Today, General Sani Abacha, once presumed face of oppression, will be remembered as seemingly more democratic and more respectful of human rights than the so-called champions of activism from the NADECO days. A nation cannot move forward while lives are being wasted. When will we choose people over politics? When will human life truly matter again? 🇳🇬 QUESTIONS THAT MUST BE ANSWERED: Is it not better to deploy all necessary resources to stop the loss of lives, rather than deny what is happening? Is it not more profitable to protect lives than to prepare for elections over victims of preventable tragedy? What nation truly progresses in a climate of constant crisis and insecurity? When will we be tired of being a reproach among nations? When will leadership be tired of Nigeria making negative headlines globally? When will human life regain its value in this country? When will senseless perpetrators be swiftly apprehended and brought to justice? Enough is enough. Lives must be protected. Justice must be served.
