I have arrived in Kisumu, Kenya, at the invitation of H.E. William Ruto, to join him in launching the Naivasha–Kisumu–Malaba Standard Gauge Railway. This is a strategic project that will reduce the cost of transport, ease the movement of goods, and deepen economic integration within East Africa. I look forward to this engagement.

The importance of strengthening Uganda–Ireland collaboration, especially in expanding practical skills training to meet our increasing infrastructure and employment needs, was central to my meeting with @IEAmbUganda Mags Gaynor. We appreciate our partnership and the consistent support Ireland provides to our education sector.

CLARIFICATION ON OWNERSHIP OF LAND AROUND ST. BALIKUDDEMBE MARKET AND RECENT DEMOLITIONS IN THE AREA. I have seen various social media posts and received numerous inquiries seeking clarification on my alleged involvement in the recent partial demolition exercise around St. Balikuddembe Market (commonly known as Owino Market), particularly since one of the affected plots is said to be registered under my name. I wish to state the facts clearly and categorically: It is true that I obtained a lease for a plot in the Nakivubo area in 2018. This was done through the formal and legal processes available to any citizen—I applied, followed the stipulated procedures, and paid all requisite fees like anyone else. When I subsequently submitted building plans for approval, the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) informed me that the land was required for their strategic activities and public purposes. KCCA then offered to compensate me and i accepted their proposal. KCCA went ahead and took possession of the land approximately three years ago. As a result, I no longer own the said land and hold no interest whatsoever in it. I have no legal claim, control, or involvement in that plot today. Consequently, there is absolutely no basis for me to evict anyone or participate in any demolition on land that does not belong to me. The recent events around the market are unfortunate for the affected vendors, and I sympathize with their plight, but I have no connection to the demolition of that night. For those suggesting that I acquired this land due to my current position as Deputy Speaker of Parliament: Please note that I obtained the lease in 2018—long before I assumed this role and at a time when I held no ministerial or an office that could influence such transactions. I remain committed to transparency and the rule of law. Thank you for your understanding. Thomas Tayebwa, MP Deputy Speaker of Parliament Republic of Uganda

Together with my wife, last evening I was pleased to join comrades and friends to celebrate the promotion of Morris Muhindo to the position of Under Secretary at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs Uganda. I told him that I do not look at it as a celebration but rather as the launch of a new challenge and responsibility. Public service, especially in such a sensitive institution, demands integrity, discipline and a deep sense of duty. I encouraged Morris to remain the sober, reliable, and trustworthy leader we have always known him to be—qualities that have earned him the confidence of many. Handling government and classified documents requires the highest level of trust. I advised him to protect government secrets diligently while ensuring transparency and professionalism in his office. Trust remains the most important currency in public service. I also reminded him that leadership is a continuous journey of learning. Personal development, reading, and undertaking training every year are essential to strengthening one’s capacity to serve. In that spirit, I recommended that he reads The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav, which speaks about the difference between external power and authentic power that comes from within—power grounded in integrity, responsibility, and accountability. He will need to espouse authentic power. Morris is a brilliant young man and a loyal @NRMOnline cadre who has served faithfully. I am confident that under the leadership of H.E. @KagutaMuseveni and the senior team at the Ministry, he will perform his duties diligently. Congratulations once again, Morris, and I wish you the very best as you serve your motherland with the highest level of integrity and dedication.

There are moments when words feel inadequate, and this is one. However, a tribute is warranted. Uganda has lost Ambassador Santa Mary Laker Kinyera, a towering figure in our Foreign Service (diplomatic) corps. A career diplomat of exceptional caliber @UgandaMFA. For all who had the privilege of knowing her or benefiting from her steadfast service, what set her apart was not only her professional excellence but her character: she was a protector and a beacon, someone who stood firmly for fairness and representation for every Ugandan, transcending affiliations, politics, or divisions. She dedicated nearly three decades to advancing Uganda's interests with unwavering integrity, clarity, and commitment. From her early roles shaping bilateral and regional integration in the Africa and Middle East Department, to serving as a key negotiator in the East African Community Treaty, to leading efforts on peace initiatives in the Horn of Africa through IGAD and the AU, she consistently placed Uganda's voice at the center of complex multilateral arenas. She was pivotal in the opening of Uganda's Embassy in Ankara as the first Chargé d’Affaires—and her time as Deputy Head of Mission in Washington, D.C., demonstrated her ability to build bridges across cultures and continents. In an often polarized world, she embodied the ideal of a solid bridge—connecting people, institutions, and nations with quiet strength, deep commitment, and genuine love for her country and its people. As a mentor and boss, she guided with wisdom and grounded professionalism, inspiring those around her to uphold the highest standards of service and humanity. Yet her legacy will endure in the fairer representation she helped secure for Uganda on the global stage, in the young diplomats she shaped, and in the countless lives touched by her principled leadership. May God strengthen us all, receive her in heavenly glory, and may her example continue to light the path for Uganda's future diplomats and leaders. Deepest condolences @StateHouseUg @okelloryem @Tybisa @richardkabonero @RobieKakonge_ @Nsababera_juju @adoniaayebare @CNmagambo @_ReaganC_B @MarvinNyanzi

@adoniaayebare @CanaryMugume @nbstv Indeed the media report overstated the compulsory nature of the invitation (akin to a workshop or briefing session). What of folks who claimed the German envoy to the Pearl was summoned 🙇🏼‍♂️?

I was pleased to meet His Eminence Emmanuel Wamala and commend him for his contribution to faith and social transformation in Uganda. We agreed that government will support his family foundation’s Kamagwa Hospital, while it remains a private facility, and that the Ministry of Tourism will support the establishment of a museum to preserve his legacy. At his request, I accepted to serve as Patron of the project. I wish him good health and God’s blessings as he marks 99 years.
