8pm handover, a new shift has begun. All around the country, elderly residents are being shoved into bed, some will ask if they can stay up for a bit, many will be told no. Some will spend the night in the same clothes they have worn all day; they’ll be double padded so they don’t need to be changed through the night. Sensor mats will be pulled out so they don’t alarm, doors will be closed. By 11pm, more than half of the staff looking after your family member will be asleep in the lounge.

@tag4UK Found her dying alone in wheelchair facing wall. Night nurse unsteady, holding trolley, couldn’t check vitals. Torments me still. Years of ignored complaints (Royal Free: “unable to substantiate”), untrained/turnover of staff, denial culture, disrespecting elderly/vulnerable.

@tag4UK Vulnerable—confused, unable to speak/complain—left to night staff. No management, CCTV, or CQC night checks. Whistleblower reported my relative manhandled in top London nursing home. Mgmt admitted “something’s going on” but unable to identify.

@SkyNews @KayBurley National Disgrace. We should be ashamed of ourselves. Even an animal is treated better. Mum died 17 years ago. I am still affected by what I saw. Complaints to home, hospitals, Councillors, Social Services MPs ignored or rifiuted. Nothing has changed.

@SkyNews @KayBurley Worst of all, when slowly dying - night nurse couldn't stand up! She had to prop herself up on a trolley to get round. Only had one hand free! Discovered the management never visited at night. 5* Care Commission home. No way will I go into a home. They all need to be run by NHS

@SkyNews @KayBurley Mum's stroke in 1998. Total dependence on others. 10 years NHS hospital & Private Nursing Homes till death. All appalling at times. Given fish with bones, solid food (needed purée), Manhandled in 5* home (told by anon. whistleblower)-no info. Found her dying alone in office.

Meanwhile, as I understand, Legislation does not now allow Clubs, Spas etc to discriminate when hiring eg cleaners. So an unknown male can could walk in as I change or exit the shower. What??? #MiddleClassWomanOfaCertainAge @Alison_McGovern

@LiamThorpECHO I agree getting set off 11:30 on a Wednesday Night. Clearly no jobs to get up for and money to burn! Should just be arranged displays!

@MartinSLewis @itvMLshow Ability to view daily spend. Switched on an electric radiator accidently - only realised as smart meter was showing double normal usage - might not have known for weeks. Just bought a dehumidifier which for the moment am running 24/7. Smart Meter shows cost ca. £1:50 daily.
