Most people in Tier 2 & 3 India have yet to have a meaningful & respectful conversation with the opposite gender because of the stigma surrounding such interactions. Dating isn’t a problem to be solved for them yet, & traditional interaction & social network apps, often visual & Western first, fail to cater to the needs of this audience. So, how do you solve for people discovery in small towns in India? That’s where @_frndapp comes in—an audio social network app that creates safe virtual spaces for genuine interactions in conservative settings. In our latest #HighIQ podcast episode, @_bpst & @hvchhangani (co-founders of Frnd) share their 5-year-long journey of building a social network product for Tier 2 & 3 audiences and scaling it to $30 Mn ARR. Tune in to hear them discuss: - Why dating isn’t a mass market problem to be solved in India right now. - What are the nuances of building for the next billion users? - How do you build a strong product team that iterates quickly and truly understands user needs? - What opportunities are yet to be tapped in India's social space? If you’re going through a tough time, read biographies of others who’ve had to face far worse circumstances and emerged from them. Kobe Bryant did it when he was not getting playing time. Larry Ellison did it when Oracle was going through a rough patch.

📱 We scroll. ❤️ We like. 🔁 We share. But do we really talk? 🎙️ 👥 That gap is what two founders from small-town India noticed early on. Bhanu Pratap Singh Tanwar (@_bpst), from Kota & Harshvardhan Chhangani (@hvchhangani) , from Abu Road, saw how most social platforms were designed for metros first and how loneliness in smaller towns often goes unseen online. 🚀Their response was @_frndapp, a voice-first social platform built around voices instead of feeds, and conversation instead of performance. 🤳@Aish_19_Anand brings a ground report on why India’s next social shift may come not from influencers or algorithms, but from voices beyond the metros. #BeyondTheMetros #DigitalIndia #SocialMedia #TechAndSociety #IndianStartups #VoiceFirst #DigitalFirst #CNBCTV18Digital

I once again repeat this. India needs to fix its air quality ASAP. This should be our top priority. We do that and the average quality of life in our country will get a giant boost. I get we are a growing economy and infrastructure projects will create issues. But most of the pollution in our cities (50 %) is because of poor road infrastructure. So let us cut the crap and fix that. You want more and more Indians to come back and live here then give them better cities. Honestly the corruption has reduced because of digitisation. I can say that as a person who lives outside India for 5 and half months yearly. But we need to digitize even more. I hope policy makers inside and outside the government realise this and work towards it together.

4/5 🛡️ Pseudo-Anonymity = Safety It’s not just locals. Thousands from the US, UK, and Australia are flocking to the app to find a warm-native space Why? They seek genuine connection without judgment. The "Pseudo-anonymity" feature is the key driver, allowing users to be their true selves

🚨 The 2025 digital verdict is in @_frndapp It’s not Mumbai or Delhi driving India's digital frndships anymore. It’s "Bharat"🇮🇳 A massive 92% of engagement is now coming from Tier 2 & 3 cities. The era of "Likes" is fading; the era of "Voice" has arrived A thread on how frndship was redefined this year 🧵👇

The thing you're afraid of giving up isn't a thing, rather it's vague optionality. Most common example is having kids. You hear a lot of people say how they won't be able to travel anymore, pursue passions, have time to do this and that But if you look at a lot of their lives right now, the majority of their time is spent doing literally none of those things. They're not really giving up an existing life they hold dear, rather some nebulous idea of freedom they never tangibly benefited from Same applies to any pursuit that forces you to step out of your comfort zone. Choosing to stay comfortable would actually be an even greater sacrifice because holding onto the past gives up all of the growth available to you in the future At the end of the day, do what you want. But if you want something, it's found in the arena. Have the courage to step into it, and you'll probably find that having less time to sit will give you more time to live

If you want to do something genuinely great, the first thing you have to do is ignore what most people think. Public opinion is a kind of gravitational field: it pulls everyone toward the status quo, familiar and already accepted. The more ambitious your idea, the stronger the force you’ll feel trying to keep you in line.
