@_mray__ Second the person recommending modern academic treatments. But also the Reformers were deeply motivated by the Fathers. What did you think of Calvin’s letter on the Catholicity of the Protestant faith to the king of France?

Jordan cooperates has some decent videos on the fathers, but really the best resources in Protestantism are academics, and dogmatic books. There’s a few YouTube channels I can’t find atm that I can send you when I come across them again, but I’d mostly just recommend reading Protestant academics and theologians, not to mention the church fathers themselves (because the church fathers aren’t really 100% of any modern sect and anyone who says so is either lying or ignorant) really, the best thing you can do is read the church fathers themselves and then compare to the theology of every sect. Most sects will quote the their interpretations of the church fathers in their key writings, for Lutherans that’s the BoC for Calvinists that would be the Institutes and other dogmatic works, etc.

i kinds get why prots don’t consider fourth century church fathers as legitimate “fathers,” but i also don’t because they’re still A LOTTT closer to the time of the apostles than we are

@_mray__ Yea I mean they probably don’t know their own confessions then nor their own dogmatitians. I find it best to look at the source material of a tradition than the lay folk as I think I mentioned before lay folk can really misuse their own stuff.

I believe in transubstantiation and that the actual body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ is present in the Eucharist, so I became Catholic.
