Today, we’re proud to announce a major milestone for RefreeG 💙 RefreeG has been awarded the SVCG Grant by the Federal Ministry of Education — securing ₦50,000,000 in debt-free, equity-free funding. This isn’t just a win for us. It’s a win for every individual, community, and cause that has ever struggled to get funding for something that truly matters. Across Nigeria and Africa, thousands of impactful ideas and urgent needs go unfunded — not because they lack value, but because they lack access. RefreeG exists to change that. I've helped about 5 of my friends stop overspending Whatever I say here might not be much, but it helped me and it helped others as well. 1. Start with your mind The first step towards fixing anything is through fixating your mind on that particular problem Accepting that you have an overspending problem and being ready to change that will do a lot more than you think Once your mindset is fixed, everything else becomes easy. 2. Separate accounts I have a few accounts/wallets to allow me limit my spending and I rank them into four categories: > Personal spending: Money for my basic day-to-day spending. If you're a salary earner, you have to allocate some amount of money to this based on your feeding and basic necessities like water or pleasure But if you rely on a fixed amount or your key earnings are from stuff like airdrops, you evaluate just enough to keep you for the month and continue the grind Tip: place a daily limit on your daily spend. Yes, do it now. > Emergency funds: Amount of money used to handle emergencies and unplanned expenses The money here should be fixed. E.g $200 so whenever your balance is less than $200, you know there's a problem and you need to rebalance > Savings account: Saving for future goals or saving to be saved tomorrow Definitely go for a high-interest yield account on this There are great crypto & traditional banks/farms that offer great yield options If you're probably scared of blowing off your savings, trust me, the yield you see accumulating in real time will make you want to leave the money there forever. > Business/Income: Strictly for cash-flow and calculating income My money that comes here usually goes back into whatever business or investment I have in mind 3. Don't run away from the pleasure, accept it! You have to accept that you're human and that you need to get some nice things for yourself Do stuff like creating wishlists or planning trips Then when it comes to acquiring whatever items you want, make sure they actually come from a place of real need and make sure it's something you don't regret To make things easier, practice thrifting more and plan way ahead before you spend money on wants (cut your coat according to your size) By now, you should have trained your brain to know when to infiltrate some accounts I mentioned above and when not to 4. Evaluate Here, you simply have to bring out your calculator weekly or monthly and tell yourself if the spending you made was worth it or not If it feels wasted, you go back to the drawing board If you feel a little bit proud of yourself, you apply that same habit to every other week/months And yeah, make sure you put in transaction narratives for exactly what you're purchasing Getting new shoes? txn note: "shoes" Getting pizza for the boys? txn note: "pizza for the boys" ... and so it goes Seeing exactly where your money went helps you when calculating and keeps you in check 5. Do stuff at your own pace No explanation needed here. I hope this helps💚
