@MichaelFranzese Big fan of yours but thought you were wrong on Biden’s legacy. He achieved a lot of great things and made some mistakes (ie border). Has Trump been perfect? No one is. You can disagree with Biden’s policies but don’t believe he is a bad/evil guy or wanted to hurt Americans.

Since this seems to be the most common response. let me address it. DEI does not mean you dont hire on merit. Of course you hire based on merit Diversity - means you expand the possible pool of candidates as widely as you can. Once you have identified the candidates, you HIRE THE PERSON YOU BELIEVE IS THE BEST. What makes the whole " what about the players " comment ridiculous is that it's presumes that all positions are hired based on some quantitative rather than subjective version of merit. They aren't Even choosing the best basketball player is very much a guess. Which is why the best players weren't always the first pick in the draft and some go undrafted The reality is that most positions hired in a company don't have a quantitative metric you can use to hire someone. How do you pick the best barista, sales assistant, marketing or salesperson, etc More often than not it's an educated guess So when you see a company like @ibm say they want to add x percent more PoC or women or whatever group, they already know that the majority of positions they hire for don't have metrics for picking the best . As @elonmusk said "if merit for a job is roughly the same, then the tie reaker should be diversity (of all kinds)" Which is exactly what well managed companies choose to do DEI also does not mean you can't fire someone if you made a mistake. Of course you can. I'm a big believer in hire slow, fire fast. If it's the wrong person. Fire them. Finally. Let me address the thought that I'm "virtue signaling". I wrote this on @x because I knew very well that almost everyone on here would disagree with me. I don't virtue signal. I want people to challenge my positions. I want to have engaging discussions that help me learn.

@mcuban Cool, so when should we expect to see a short white/Asian women on the Mavs?

Big Bone, Lil Tony, Rayful Edmond, & Melvin Butler. Las Vegas, 1987. A never before seen picture of Rayful Edmond, and his plug Melvin Butler pictured next to each other at the Marvin Hagler V. Sugar Ray Leonard fight in 1987. To the far left is Big Bone, who introduced Melvin to Rayful, a connection which is one of the reasons why D.C. became a powerful drug hub in the 80’s. Without Big Bone, the LA/D.C. connection wouldn’t have existed. Big Bone, was a legendary street figure originally from Louisville, KY, who moved to LA as a child. Big Bone had a connection with the Colombians, he owned planes and penthouses in the LA area as well as Las Vegas. Melvin Butler, was a major supplier who got his drugs from another major supplier, Brian “Waterhead Bo” Bennett, who was one of the biggest kingpins in history. Because of the LA/D.C. connection, Big Bone was featured on Rayful’s indictment, as well as Melvin Butler. With Melvin as a plug, Rayful was bringing in over 1,700 pounds of Cocaine to the city monthly. Big Bone passed away in 2022, Rayful is still in prison, and Melvin is released as well.

Great story, that flies in the face of a few bad faith narratives — that black men are absent and that black people don’t care about the issues in their own community.

@davidmweissman Very honest of you and great introspection. It's hard for folks on the right or left to be this self aware. Kudos. In my humble view, he really was an intelligent, kind and exceptional individual (of course he wasn't perfect but really impressive).
