One thing I am willing to do to promote digital citizenship is to show students their digital footprints. It is important because students need to understand that what they post and say will be linked to their name and with them forever. #gcitec2360 #digcitcommit #iste18

A4: how do you show support for a student even if you individually don’t agree with their beliefs being a teacher? How do you make them feel loved when it’s against your moral thoughts and values? #edchat #gcitec2360

@Libby_educ @abbyylea11 Have you considered giving them a dedicated, 1:1 space to just be themselves without the pressure of peers? Dialectic journals work great here, or you can encourage students to send digital reflections in video or audio with tools like @along_org , @Flipgrid, @padlet, etc #EdChat

A1:/I think that as teachers we should not limit the teaching of the past to avoid a tough topic that students can talk, learn, share their own thoughts on. #edchat #gcitec2360

A2: communications a huge part that students need to learn because it is everywhere in the real world. To be able to sit and listen to their classmates beliefs and thoughts is a huge learning step that can benefit them for years #edchat #gcitec2630

As teachers, listening to students in the classroom and sending positive body language messages to students when they express their opinions is noticed by every student in the class. Listening, Listening, Listening. #edchat

@mssackstein Letting students do most of the talking (limiting teacher talk time), encouraging collaboration, student surveys, teaching authentic writing, and providing students with examples of kids who have made a difference in the world. #edchat

Teachers who are being pressured to avoid teaching facts about difficult parts of Am. History and want to support student voice on tough issues should know that the NAACP Legal Defense Fund will have your back: @NAACP_LDF #edchat

Thanks for joining tonight’s #edchat. Our topic is: In these unprecedented times direct student advocacy is making a difference on climate change, the pandemic, measures to stop school shootings, and racial injustice. As teachers, what can we do to support student voice?

@BaileyP58408549 @jilloutkahill I agree with you! I think Google is super easy for students and teachers to use. What do you think will benefit your class based off of a Google setting? Would you upload everything to classroom? Would test be online?

@BradenDeaton @jilloutkahill I agree with this, I think it is very important to allow others to be more open minded with their classmates work. It carryover to life outside the classroom.

@jilloutkahill The technology is not the most important factor because we humans can get wrapped up in it and it’s more important to have human connections allowing students to be involved and learning in the real world. #gcitec2360

@jilloutkahill It is important because it allows students to converse why they think what they think. This allows others to be open minded to others information. Student will see things in different perspectives. #gcitec2360

@jilloutkahill This means that our generation is changing dramatically. I think that we are going to see a lot of advancements in technology and more use out of it. This younger generation know more about technology than most people, allowing them to strive in educational purposes. #gcite2360
