Abdulmonam Eassa retweetet

Abdulmonam Eassa has just been recognised in the 2026 World Press Photo Contest for his powerful and haunting coverage of the conflict in Sudan.
His work, specifically the series titled "Sudan’s War: A Nation Trapped", won in the Stories category for the Africa region. Working for Le Monde, Eassa managed to document the brutal reality of a war that has been notoriously difficult for journalists to access.
One standout image (above) is a portrait of Alhaja Abdallah, a displaced woman from Bara showing severe burn scars from a fire at Al-Mohad Camp in El-Obeid.
