When we moved to Winnipeg my husband called this the “Winnipeg idle.” I’ve walked past Hydro vehicles also in Wolseley left idling for upwards of an hour. Does it become habitual because of our winters? Either way, it sucks.

Walking on the road with my six week old because the @cityofwinnipeg sidewalks are so treacherous. Be careful out there, hopefully there’s some room for sidewalk maintenance in the budget

We lost my mom today. The sea claimed her true love, my father, when she was just 36. She staggered to her feet and managed to raise 3 kids on her own with kindness and grace. She never dated and sometimes that made me angry and sad for her. But she was never bitter. I loved her.

An update: My one-year contract role with @CBCNews has been cut short after 5 months, due to budget cuts, and will officially end on Jan. 29. I'm grateful to have had the chance to tell impactful stories on a national level and to work with some really great people.

CBC is cutting 600 jobs, about 10% of its workforce (1/10 employees), Catherine Tait announced at a CBC town hall this afternoon. Job cuts set to happen in the next few weeks with most happening after the fiscal year Union and non-union (management) jobs will be affected.
