One of the very sad events as we edited Hospital Pharmacy, was the loss of Nina Barnett. Raliat and I were keen to note this in our dedication.
Nina had contributed to previous editions & led the update of chapter 17 - consultant pharmacists.

Why is a place like this even having to consider closure? We have so much money to destroy people yet we can’t give children - yes, children - proper care as their little lives are coming to an end. I despair. This country’s been rotten for so long.. & look who pays the price.

Zoe's Place – a beloved children's hospice in my constituency – will close unless we raise £5 million. If any city can do it, Liverpool can. But it shouldn't take charity to care for those in need. My letter to the Chancellor calling for proper funding of children's hospices:

How sad is it that this even needs saying. In any exchange of this sort between two ppl who don’t know each other never mind between two HCP or patient and HCP isn’t this just common courtesy? Whatever happened to Hello My Name Is…?

It goes the other way too. For all referrals to secondary care I say “Hi I’m Neena, Dr Jha, a GP calling from X surgery”. There’s never been a more pressing time to have this clarity - to protect both patients & ourselves medico-legally. 2/2

How can this be right? NHSE Board is full of bankers and people with a secondary care background. No patient rep, no primary care rep, no social scientist, no anthropologist etc etc. Leadership body for most expensive public service deserves much much more balance.
