Cocktail explosion targets St. Mary’s Cathedral Church in Dhaka A cocktail explosion occurred targeting St. Mary’s Cathedral Church located in the Ramna area of the capital. However, police have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. The explosion took place around 10:45 PM on Friday night. According to church sources, a religious event was scheduled to take place on Saturday morning in the courtyard of St. Mary’s Cathedral. But around 10:45 PM on Friday, a cocktail exploded in front of the church. Another explosive was thrown inside the church compound but did not detonate. Later, police arrived and recovered the unexploded device. Father Albert Rosario, the parish priest of St. Mary’s Cathedral Church, told Prothom Alo over the phone: “In the morning, around 600 guests from churches across the country are expected to attend the event. But at night, there was a cocktail explosion. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The police have arrived, and we will take legal steps.” Regarding the incident, Assistant Commissioner Mazharul Islam of the Ramna Division, DMP, told Prothom Alo: “Two cocktails were thrown targeting the church — one exploded, and the other did not.
