@alaskorly It was from the genre being new, people played (and play tested it) like an action shooter and then they had no ammo left for huge stretches (+ we were children)
Veterans and newcomers of course will spare the ammo and never lack any

when most "survival horror" games today(99% of the time not even survival horror btw) randomly have you in ammo droughts for no reason other than "well it's what the old games were like!" when that's 100% certifiably not the case at all

@autisticarab I've got retarded snapcaps that were just real casings/bullets with the primer pocket gaped and unusable and I tested one in my llama omni once
the firing pin got stuck in the primer pocket and I had to yank the gun open
some guns are just built different
