I guess I am struggling to see where there are actual fires, and I’m sure there are a few things that have some merit but in most of those cases the opposing side does them as well. A good example is Executive Orders, that concerned me in his first term but it was just as bad under Biden. You could say deportations, but the current numbers are similar to the results under Obama. Election concerns? Consider gerrymandering practices in democratic states and it feels hard pressed to not see that both parties actively pursue similar strategies with every concern. @grok seems to think there has been an overwhelming amount of alarmism over the last decade. AI breaks it down better than I can. Always open to being persuaded but since it has been a decade and nothing hasn’t actually caught on fire as the opposition expected, it feels unfounded. Good validation of this view is how every major tech executive and many foreign leaders have completely changed in this term and are all investing in America, to the tune of 13 trillion collectively year to date. That is setting this country up for incredible growth that will address many of the biggest problems we still face. @thayerglass As there are warnings against yelling fire in a public place when there is no fire. But when a fire actually breaks out, the danger has to be called out, even if all that’s smelled is acrid smoke. This administration does not pass my smell test

There have long been warnings against throwing around the term fascist as an epithet for "things we don't like" on political topics for a long time. Primarily a warning against creating a great political divide and a clear sign of degradation of critical thinking. Orwell popularized that discussion in the 1940's.

So voting in a white 28 year old Democratic Socialist that inflames a political divide by calling the current administration fascist is the answer? I’m sure there are many common sense Democrats that are more qualified, and who would better represent Atlanta’s values/demographics.

@thayerglass I don’t know who else was on the ticket, but the city of Atlanta’s demographics are majority Black, and thus have been aligned with progressive and socialist politics for generations. So this person being elected doesn’t seem like a stretch to me
