Iran's B1 bridge that Trump gloated about wrecking just happens to be on the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) spanning Russia to India. The bridge was intended to upgrade a major commercial artery and speed up trade and economic development in Iran and along the route. Iran must make nuclear deterrence an urgent moral imperative, for the sake of its 90 million people and their economic wellbeing.

@Midhuamsaud @androimad Maldivians have ideas. It's mostly that an enabling environment for entrepreneurship, honest work and good governance is absent. Thieves, liars and arselickers tend to progress easier in our system unfortunately.

Actually, @MarioNawfal, local and foreign correspondents (those who have been here for years) are risking their lives to tell stories from south Lebanon. This particular video was taken by @MaucourantNada yesterday when she and I were in Tyre. It would be kind if you used your platform to amplify & credit those journalists so your audience can stay updated by people like us who are on the ground.

🇱🇧 Bodies are being buried in Tyre (south Lebanon) as areas further south are too dangerous to reach. Even funerals are no longer safe from Israeli strikes. You won’t see this on mainstream media.

Proud that Maldivians had this kind of vision a decade ago. But it’s equally sad to realise that the barrier wasn’t lack of talent, it was our own system, our own decision makers. And maybe even more uncomfortable that the system and the decision makers are a reflection of us. A country’s progress depends on its decision-makers and those decision-makers come from its people. When they fail, we as citizens share that responsibility too… especially when we stay silent. Thank you for sharing this @reallynattu

9 years ago, we came up with an idea to introduce an Uber-like service to the Maldives using motorcycles. We identified the problem we wanted to solve: vehicle congestion, while also giving people a chance to earn a living since they already own motorcycles. We called it Ride Maldives. We met @em_saeed and the ministry to demo the app and seek endorsement, given that the service was ready for launch with over 200 male and female drivers on our waitlist. The next day, the economic ministry released a press statement saying they were starting a new motorcycle taxi service and that companies could apply after a new regulation. We were told to apply. Transport took almost a year to draft the regulation. They took our base idea but stripped out all the safety measures we had put in place. Despite multiple attempts, they didn’t even want to meet us or get our feedback before gazetting the regulation and opening it up for services. Since it was already released, despite all our efforts to update it so we could provide a safe service to the public, the transport ministry denied it. So we decided to halt the project completely. A few months later, a company started the motorcycle service and then stopped for whatever reason. We were later asked to come to the transport ministry for a discussion, and they assured us they would change everything to fit our needs. By then, it was too late, we had already moved on to our next project: LottieFiles. Bottom line: our idea was to introduce an Uber-like motorcycle service, while the transport/economic ministries were still learning about the concept of motorcycle taxis from Thailand. Here’s an interesting article written by Avas back then, before government meddling: avas.mv/17565

Former Chief of Staff of the Turkish Navy, retired Rear Admiral Dr. Cihan Hacı: 🚫 The US's preparation for leaving NATO is part of a major geopolitical plan. To believe that this has not been carefully calculated from start to finish is strategic naivety. 🚫 Since 2014, there have been calls for Turkey to leave NATO, but there was no mechanism for this. If a NATO member country does not decide to leave on its own, it cannot be expelled from the Alliance. 🚫 Consequently, there are two options: either the country leaves voluntarily, or a "NATO 2.0" is created. 🚫 That is, NATO would be dissolved, the US would leave it, and then a new alliance would be created, into which Turkey would not be admitted. 🚫 If Turkey leaves NATO, Israel and the Greek administration of Southern Cyprus would join it, and Turkey would find itself in the position of an "occupying force in NATO territory" in Cyprus.

𝗜𝗦𝗥𝗔𝗘𝗟 𝗦𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗪𝗔𝗥 𝗔𝗜𝗠𝗦: 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗜 𝗧𝗢 𝟯𝗞𝗠, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗡𝗢 𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗘𝗘𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗛𝗘𝗭𝗕𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗛’𝗦 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 Israeli Army Radio reports that the military will present a plan this week to the political leadership aimed at the complete destruction of villages along the southern Lebanese border, and the establishment of a “security zone” cleared of civilians, with no return allowed for Lebanese residents of frontline towns. According to Israeli military officials, the entire area within 3–4 kilometers of the border is to be transformed into a buffer zone, reinforced by forward military positions. At the same time, the Israeli army now states that disarming Hezbollah is not among the objectives of the war. For over a year, Israeli leadership insisted Hezbollah had been crippled or effectively neutralized. Today, the goal of disarmament is no longer even pursued. The contradiction is unavoidable: if that objective has been dropped, it is because it was never achievable in the first place. What was once framed as an advance toward the Litani River has now been reduced to a narrow strip of 3–4 kilometers. If this trajectory continues, these goals will keep shrinking, until the reality becomes undeniable: holding ground inside Lebanon is not sustainable, and imposing outcomes by force has clear limits. Regardless of these plans, the reality on the ground will not follow that script. The people of the south will return to their villages. Regardless of these plans, the reality on the ground will not follow that script. The people of the south will return to their villages. A depopulated buffer zone is not something that can be imposed or sustained, it is something they will never be able to achieve.

A French general just looked at Trump’s plan to build a runway inside Iran to fly out uranium under active bombing. His response: “American officials should stop snorting cocaine between meetings.” This is the same man who called joining Trump’s war “buying cheap tickets for the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.” The French are not holding back.
