Given the massive supply outage… the U.S. extended the waiver for Russian crude.

Day 11 of the ceasefire. A LOT of market confusing messages last night. Bottom line is Hormuz remains tightly constrained by Iran and blockaded by the U.S.

In all seriousness how is it even possible at this point that anybody, or any market, does anything at all, based on anything Donald Trump says?

The Strait of Hormuz is only open via a route determined by IRGC and in coordination with IRGC under conditions set by IRGC — so, despite what Trump says, it is not actually open, and tanker owners will behave accordingly.

The U.S. naval blockade remains in place and the Iranians only allow transit in the Strait of Hormuz through a checkpoint in Iranian waters, so what has actually changed, if anything?

To be clear, Hormuz is not "completely open" if shipping has to transit through Iran's new route. Completely open "for the remaining period of ceasefire" is also not enough time for many vessels to transit, should they opt to. #OOTT
Seyed Abbas Araghchi@araghchi

In line with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the passage for all commercial vessels through Strait of Hormuz is declared completely open for the remaining period of ceasefire, on the coordinated route as already announced by Ports and Maritime Organisation of the Islamic Rep. of Iran.

Everyone is talking about Trump calling it the “Strait of Iran”🫣. Is it a typo? Freudian slip? Is it part of the “deal”?

BREAKING: Just 20 minutes before Trump's announcement that the Strait of Hormuz was open, massive trades hit the market. Investors sold a combined 7,990 lots of Brent crude futures, a $760 million bet that oil would go down. These orders were much larger than anything else at the time. The traders made huge gains. Unusual.

I see the headlines are not mentioning that a new route implemented by the Iranians is what ships will now use to go through the strait....i dont think the idea of a toll is shelved.

At 250 feet tall, Trump's arch would be the biggest such structure in the world. Asked last fall what this modern-day arch was meant to commemorate, Trump pointed to himself and replied, “Me.” @sbg1 newyorker.com/news/letter-fr…
