watching the probably nothing clip today ft Faze Banks sharing about his cryptopunk trade reminded me of a few important things about NFTs. 1. The Zombie cryptopunk is my favorite NFT of all time. There is a savage vibe about this PFP. It is perfect in its current form, it’s final form. It doesn’t require utility, animation, a 3D avatar…anything. 2. The reason i like my NodeMonke so much is because it captures a similar vibe. The zombie pixels and three eyes are savage. the cowboy hat and diamond stud have a wild sicko flair. I do in fact believe that NodeMonkes can play the punk role for Bitcoin Ordinals. The thing people need to make peace with is that the pump from 0.2 to 0.9 BTC was fvcking amazing, but they needed to retrace back to a consolidation zone. This was obvious to me. You cannot earn your stripes as a diamond hand community overnight. There needs to be capitulation, time has to pass. I do believe NodeMonkes will reach and exceed a 1 BTC floor price, but maybe not soon. I don’t want to hang around sweating the floor price, quite the opposite. I just want to chill with my savage NodeMonke as the blocks stack up. Let these age…see how they mature, can they become a hard digital collectible like punks? Only time will tell…it depends on how these pixels are treated over time. 3. Ethereum NFTs are dope AF. Ethereum has a rich history. I believe ETH went through an identity crisis recently. There is still a lot of concern about the gas prices but future updates will help address that. Ordinals honestly are not sh!t yet compared to the banger art and culture that lives on eth. Do you really think that an ordinal cycle is going to make ETH NFTs obsolete? ofc not. 4. One of my favorite ETH NFTs was the M2 mutant that I PFPd for a long time. Same vibes, savage energy. I capitulated that NFT out of frustration. I rage quit Yuga after feeling like the direction into gaming and the mishandling of the brand was not what i signed up for. I have written on this subject from time to time. Recently lot of OG holders finally threw in the towel as well, with ETH at $4K the coins look a lot more attractive than a rutterless yacht that already bounced off several icebergs. However, when you step back and look at objective data such as trading volume and holder rewards over time it’s hard to argue that BAYC & MAYC are goated. I like the idea of BAYC LLC. Separating the holder experience from the gaming venture makes a lot of sense, long overdue. There comes a certain point though when you say, if a punk does nothing and a NodeMonke does nothing…then what exactly do I expect as a holder of BAYC and MAYC? Well it depends on the price and what you expect when you buy. BAYC pumped to 150 eth on the back of incredible claims. The most notable and most memorable was the mutant serum experience. Mutant Apes changed everything. Mutant Apes were groundbreaking. Ape coin of course, was mind blowing and face melting. What’s your point faXx? My point is that if you saw those drops and then bought at 150 eth, 100 eth, 75 eth, even 50 eth you probably had some expectations that those fire airdrops would continue for you too. I can understand why holders are frustrated round tripping apes, especially if they bought high and rode all the way down without big rewards. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes … or you just lose…big. but…at some point the price reaches a level when you can say well, this is cool as it is and if there are any rewards great, but even in the absence of “utility” im good. Are apes & mutants oversold? idk, probably. maybe there is more pain ahead but most of the downside is already baked in imo. All that to say … I copped the most banger M2, savage vibes. When mutants were at 40 eth if you showed me this ape and told me I could buy it for 3.2 eth i would have thought you were absolutely nuts. but here we are … no buyers left. Capitulation. but this sicko is going to sleep good tonight. GN.
