If you took this concept to its logical (perhaps a little hyperbolic) conclusion, it would involve intense questioning of every single American concerning their loyalty to our founding documents.
This would actually be even more exclusionary than the Naturalization Act of 1790.
Obviously, if you proposed such a procedure to Gorsuch and other proponents of the propositional nation idea, they would call you insane. If you actually advocated for some sort of test to verify that a potential immigrant TRULY believed in the ideas found in the Declaration of Independence, they would never support it.
What they really mean at the end of the day is that being an American doesn’t really mean anything.
