@Doeten06 @rosegold_soc @NoBiscotti The King is the head of state for Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a few others countries with colonial ties to London. It's a ceremonial role for them just like it is for the UK. They are still defacto independent

@rosegold_soc @NoBiscotti What's the point of Scotland becoming independent then? Scotland becoming an republic even if liberal can't be logically under the parliamentary political influence of a monarch.

@hongreturns @DerekPederson3 I'd rather quit drugs and flying than go vegan lol. I'd even prefer to sell my car and get the bus/train everywhere🤣 Different people have different priorities

@aryafpl @DerekPederson3 Some things, like going vegan, are significantly easier than what you described. Also just because you can’t be perfect doesn’t mean it’s a good excuse not to try.

I'm not vegan and I can't really pressure people to become vegan until I do myself, but there are really no good arguments that veganism isn't both morally and pragmatically correct.

If we stopped eating meat, we could reduce the land we use for agriculture by 75%. That's 31.3 million sq km, or 12.08 million sq mi. An area larger than all of Africa, or about four of the contiguous US.

@hongreturns @DerekPederson3 It would be better for the environment if I took a 30 hour coach to my holiday this summer, instead I'm getting a 2 hour flight. I occasionally consume illegal drugs even though I'm sure the supply chains I am funding are unethical. Normal people do things like this every day

@aryafpl @DerekPederson3 do you have the cognitive dissonance with anything else? Stealing is bad but you do it anyways? Racism/sexism/homophobia is bad but you do it anyways? It’s just bizarre to proclaim you don’t live by your beliefs.

@hongreturns @DerekPederson3 I understand the dilemma. I think veganism is the correct moral choice. I just enjoy my food more than I care about animals

@hongreturns @DerekPederson3 I eat vegan food sometimes. Some animal products just can't be beaten unfortunately. I can buy a whole chicken for £3, roast it and get 3-4 portions of food. It's cheap, delicious, easy to cook and nutritious. All at the same time.

@DerekPederson3 I hear people say "I'm not vegan but they're 100% right" and I just don't get why? Don't you want to live true to your values? Integrity? What reason can you possibly have to believe something and not adhere to that belief? "gay people are 100% right but I'm still homophobic" why
