The Blood Pressure Champion 🇺🇸🇰🇪
A retired soldier from Kahawa Barracks collapsed and died shortly after. He had Hypertension. He had settled in Kahawa Wendani, living what looked like a normal, quiet life of waking up, chilling, playing drafts with the boys. When he collapsed, friends rushed him to Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital, but time is tissue, and he didn’t make it. It was a massive heart attack. Blood flow to a major part of his heart had been cut off. Probably blood pressure surged causing rupture of an existing cholesterol plaque in the coronary artery, the one that supplies the heart with blood. This usually leads to clot formation in the artery which blocks blood flow. These are the stories people use to say soldiers die because they retire. Not really. This is happening everywhere. For years—30s, 40s, 50s—many people don’t exercise consistently, live with uncontrolled blood pressure, drink heavily, smoke, and carry central obesity that silently damages the heart, brain and kidneys. In uniform, there’s structure, access to care, even reliable medication. After retirement, that consistency can drop, and the underlying disease catches up fast. Add possible Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and the stress of transition, and you find many retirees are already fragile before they leave work. Retirement didn’t kill him. The groundwork was laid years before. Every working adult needs to hear this: retirement planning is not just money, it’s your blood pressure, your weight, your habits, your consistency. Because when the body fails, it doesn’t negotiate.

When you divert someone’s call, follow up with an SMS 10. Seek permission before sharing someone’s number with a third party 11. Send an SMS before calling someone who doesn’t have your contact 12. Unless necessary, allow a phone to ring unanswered instead of diverting the call 13. Calling someone earlier than 8am or later than 12am should only be for emergencies 14. Don’t put someone on a hands-free call without their permission Just be fair and respond as if the person is standing right before you.

Your Excellency, allow us to comment on this post in which we are of the view that it has missed a few important chapters of international law: 1. Aggression originates from the U.S. and the Israeli regime use of regional water, air and land territories: Based on Article 3(f) of the UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 (XXIX) (Definition of Aggression, 14 December 1974), “The action of a State in allowing its territory, which it has placed at the disposal of another State, to be used by that other State for perpetrating an act of aggression against a third State” constitutes aggression. For months, we had warned neighboring countries—particularly those along the Persian Gulf—that any aggression from their soil against Iran would be met with our inherent right to self‑defense. Despite their denials, numerous attacks against Iran have been launched from U.S. bases in these countries, a small example being the downing of three military aircraft in Kuwait. 2. Violation of Article 2(4) of the UN Charter: The United States and the Israeli regime have violated Article 2(4) , which requires all Members to “refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.” Their military aggression against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity is the root cause of the current crisis. 3. Iran’s response is lawful, legitimate self‑defense: Our response has been strictly in exercise of our inherent right to self‑defense, consistent with international law and the principles of proportionality, necessity, and discrimination. Operations have targeted only military bases and assets of the aggressors. After these military installations were struck, enemy military personnel and forces fled into hotels and civilian centers, taking innocent civilians as hostages—a gross violation of the law of armed conflict. 4. The Strait of Hormuz: prior freedom of navigation & current restrictions: Before the U.S.‑Israeli regime military aggression against Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Strait of Hormuz was open to all countries. Any current disruption to Persian Gulf security or maritime traffic is a direct consequence of that aggression, and full responsibility lies with the aggressors. As the coastal state, Iran has introduced necessary restrictions to ensure safe passage. Vessels belonging to non‑belligerent countries may conduct innocent passage in coordination with Iran. Clearly, vessels of belligerent parties—especially the U.S. and the terrorist Israeli regime, as well as those serving their interests—cannot use this waterway. 5. Call on all free and independent nations: The Islamic Republic of Iran expects all free and independent nations to stand on the right side of history and condemn the aggressors. We reaffirm our readiness for diplomatic solutions based on mutual respect and international law, but will not hesitate to defend our sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security. Thank you Excellency for paying due consideration the the above facts.

Spoke on phone with H.E Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability of the United Arab Emirates this evening. He apprised me on the gravity of the situation in the region, and in particular the repercussions of IRGC’s unjustified attacks of critical infrastructure of GCC countries on not only civilian security, but economic and environmental security of the Globe. I conveyed to him Kenya’s solidarity- in line with President Ruto’s well stated position on this matter- and assured him of our readiness to work with the UAE to respond through diplomatic means to this escalating situation. @ForeignOfficeKE
