@Badhombre Hey @grok what are some organisations in Australia that have similar missions as "strengthen global civil society organisations"?
English

Incredible. USAID was funding the SPLC through an organization called the Tides Center, based in San Francisco.
From 2016 through 2024, USAID granted $27 million to the Tides Network to “strengthen global civil society organizations, promote transparency, accountability, citizen engagement, and serve as fiscal agent for USAID’s Civil Society Innovation Initiative.”
The Tides Center set up a fund through its Tides Foundation with that money for the Southern Poverty Law Center’s “Vote Your Voice” initiative.
The executive director of the Tides Center is Ayesha Khanna. She was co-chair of Women for Obama in Atlanta, Georgia.

@cremieuxrecueil If there are aliens, I’d say the odds are 100% that Trump wants to be the one to make the historic announcement.
So if there are no announcements by the end of his presidency we can be certain there are none.

@JohnBevere Hi John, could I message you about this?

We were never called to live with an escape mentality.
Jesus didn’t say wait it out. He said you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and that power is for advancing the gospel.
An escape mindset pulls you out of the moment we’re living in. It causes you to miss the opportunities right in front of you to reach people, speak truth, and build the kingdom.
We are not here to hide from the darkness. We are here to shine in it.
Right now matters. This moment matters.

@BowTiedTrance It’s only with volume of responses that you really get what Scott meant by npcs.

Sorry for all the reposts. I don't think I've ever been sh!t on so hard for something as innocuous as sharing a story about how I mixed up two movies.
At some point, it just kind of became funny that commenters were *this angry* about something so inconsequential.
So I'm embracing it, in the spirit of @JoshuaLisec's dictum about bad reviews. Might as well lean into it. 🤷♂️

@awake_purpose @MusicaApologia @BowTiedTrance I think you're confused. Tenet is the one where Jean-Claude Van Damme kills Senator McComb by having his past and future selves touch each other.

My most embarrassing moment of 2026.
For years, I've been hearing how great "Interstellar" was.
I didn't think it was that great. I tried to watch it, but I quit after about a half-hour. No desire to attempt it again.
Couldn't understand why it kept getting such great reviews. Just last week, a friend mentioned it as one of the best films in recent memory.
So I decided to give it another try.
Folks ... I never watched "Interstellar" before last night. What I tried to watch, and quit, was "Gravity."
Those two films existed as one and the same in my mind, for over a decade.
In my defense, they were released only a year apart.

@jabb3r0cky @MusicaApologia @BowTiedTrance In Tenet I couldn’t understand why Bruce Willis shoots himself in the end…
English

@MusicaApologia @BowTiedTrance @awake_purpose My dad is hard of hearing. We saw Tenet in the theater. He had no idea what was being said for like ⅔ of the film. My hearing is fine and I didn't catch ⅓ of it. Very frustrating. We watched it again at home with the subtitles on and it made much more sense.
English

@thejeffcallahan It’s like in that Dustin Hoffman movie Contagion…

@thejeffcallahan Glad to be your crew mate on this one Jeff. Thank you @BowTiedTrance

@BowTiedTrance @awake_purpose @thejeffcallahan This is sooo funny. Interstellar is one of my all time favourites.

@Szut Horse semen collector would surely make the top 10. No?

I'd make a list of the worst professions... I think it would go as
1. sound engineer
2. realtor
3. car salesman
4. insurance claim processor
5. government clerk

@BowTiedTrance Interstellar was a 2hr rollercoaster between turning the volume up because everyone is mumbling followed by unexpected blaring music.
English

@FitBBook @BowTiedTrance He sure likes his backward movies
English

@awake_purpose @BowTiedTrance Tenet was even worse in terms of sound quality, but you are right.
English

@SmitheeAll88909 @BowTiedTrance What a boob, imma watch Tenet on a Nintendo Gameboy next.
English

@awake_purpose @BowTiedTrance I like the movie, but this is definitely true. Nolan is a snob who I think is offended that anyone watches his movies outside an IMAX.
English

@sleepyslim @BowTiedTrance Avatar 3 was the last movie I saw - what a commie piece of garbage that was.
English

@awake_purpose @BowTiedTrance Isn’t that basically every modern movie?
English

I watch so little tv and movies that I never bother to check it, but I heard somewhere that there is a setting that allows you to change this - it has something to do with the speaker system being used.
I have my tv behind some furniture, so it’s a lot of work to pull it out to watch anything - best for me.
English

@BowTiedTrance @thejeffcallahan Two movies one screen??
English

@thejeffcallahan This is how it lived in my mind for years.
