Caroline Phillips grew up in Kintore, just outside Aberdeen, back in the 1870s. She was one of the tiny handful of women journalists in Britain at the time, writing for the very conservative Aberdeen Daily Journal. But her real fire was the fight for votes for women.
She took over as Honorary Secretary of the Aberdeen WSPU and became the main voice for suffragettes in the north-east. Caroline sorted special trains so local women could get down to the big demos in Edinburgh, fired off sharp letters to the papers, and even did a cheeky dawn raid swapping the flags on golf courses for “Votes for Women” banners!
She wasn’t scared to stand up to the London lot either when she thought their plans were off. Her bosses at the paper warned her to drop the activism or else, but she kept going anyway.
A proper trailblazing journalist and gutsy local leader who showed Aberdeen women didn’t need to be posh or London-based to make history just real determination and deeds, not words!

It is only for the bravery of those 12 men that justice is finally being done. Those who were supposed to protect them failed - in the SNP, in the Scottish Youth Parliament. If they think this is over now the trial is finished, they can think again.

I’ve been heavily involved in this topic for eight years and even I’m not entirely sure what “transgender women” means here. Logically it means “women who identify as trans”, ie transmen, but I don’t think that IS what they meant. Awful polling practice.
