Children don’t come into the world believing they’re born in the wrong body.
Adults teach them that.
When a preschooler is being socially transitioned, changing names, pronouns, clothing, and being told they are the opposite sex, those decisions aren’t coming from a 4-year-old’s understanding of biology.
They’re coming from the adults around that child.
Parents make the appointments.
Parents change the paperwork.
Parents speak to teachers.
Parents guide every step.
Young children trust the adults in their lives completely. That’s why adults have an enormous responsibility to be careful about the ideas they introduce.
A child can believe in Santa Claus, monsters under the bed, or imaginary friends because children naturally rely on trusted adults to explain the world.
That dependence is exactly why we should be cautious about making life-altering decisions during the earliest years of development.
Children deserve time to grow, explore, and mature without being placed on a path they may not fully understand.
Protect childhood. Let kids be kids.
