@josh234a @LFCApproved Szobo is great at covering a lot of ground and pressing but isn’t great defensively and poor tackler. Maybe next to a profile like Kante could potentially work? A player like Noah Sidiki may be a good partner for him if he played in the pivot or Caicedo but not realistic.

@b1llythakid @LFCApproved Szoboszlai can't play the second striker, Iraola tactics involves the second striker, either a striker or a pure 10, so he fits Scott role better and perfectly

I’ve said it before, Dominik Szoboszlai was arguably the first name on the teamsheet last season. The question now is where he fits under Andoni Iraola. Unless Iraola views him as the player best suited to the role Alex Scott performs, I’m struggling to see a position where he’s the clear first-choice option. You can argue he can play on the right, as a No.10 or even right-back when required, but in each of those roles he’d likely be competing rather than owning the position. And that’s the dilemma. A player of Szoboszlai’s quality is far too good to spend his prime years as somebody’s second choice. Personally, I think he will be 1 of the 2 in midfield, then that leaves the question who is the best option to support him? Then it goes on to, what happens with Mac or Jones? Both go?

@Ironkai123 Then we should definitely test their resolve, more value in these deals than the Kayodes etc…. Would you profile Alex Freeman similarly to Doue? I haven’t seen much of him but I know you vouch for him.

Legitimately think we should just make this signing. Surely Strasbourg will sell. Perfect option at right back. Can form a three, overlap, underlap, and invert. Great defensively while not being bad offensively. Has a great blend of physicality, athleticism, and technique. Could even cover at CB. Also helps that he might have another Ivorian ahead of him.

🇨🇮 Huge fan of right-back Guéla Doué, the older brother of Desire. He can also play as a wing-back and even as a CB. Just scored and assisted in a 2-1 victory for Ivory Coast over France. Tall, athletic profile. Has a great engine and defends the channels really well. Excellent anticipation and very comfortable on the ball. Only 23-years-old. Expect him to make a big move soon.

Social media trends have turned the world’s most beautiful places into endless bathroom lines at a concert, where everyone waits for hours just to take the same photo to show to people who couldn’t care less 🌎📸 Nothing captures the shallow decay of our time better than this

We have agreed a deal to sign Victor Munoz from Osasuna, subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance 😄

@AnfieldSector Diomande is signing and if Gakpo leaves then we sign one of the others mentioned, that’s my guess.

@HendrickD82 @IrishRed4Eva What profile we sign if Gakpo leaves? Don’t think it’s an out and out LW like Barcola especially now with Munoz and Rio’s pathway journalist keep banging on about. Maybe back up RW who can also cover centrally. Any names?

View Munoz as a Chiesa replacement who will actually play for us. Diomande as the one in, one out Salah replacement. And then it'll be about whether or not Cody leaves as to whether there'll be a third forward signed this summer.

@SamiHenchoz @lfcconquest05 Yeah I hear you, established internationals and league winners still in their ‘prime’ age. It’s true we should be able to demand 60+ for both players I’m just not sure who we sell to 🤷🏾‍♂️ I feel like the other leagues will low ball us and not sure we would sell to rivals.

@SamiHenchoz @lfcconquest05 Most of the outgoing fees are quite optimistic but we are good sellers. Harvey is probably 20 after last season, Mac and Gakpo feel like we would get 50/55 max. I do expect us to fill out the squad properly and it’s good to see we’re back to 2018 times of no rumour transfers 💪🏾

@Anfieldlnsider I agree that he will suit Iraola football too a tee but the problem is bigger than that. The precedent needs to change and it needs to happen now. Dom as a profile is definitely someone we can replace so if he isn’t signing then we need to identify suitable replacement ASAP.

@LFCHadi_ @rajsinghchohan @BradleyLFC26 Unfortunately Jacquet and Leoni both coming back from long term injuries & Gomez is injury prone. Ideally we would bring in another CB (rotation) regardless of departures but I’m not sure we will unless Gomez leaves. Acheampong would be the most ideal replacement (homegrown).

@rajsinghchohan @BradleyLFC26 Selling Gomez is pointless imo. Wages aren’t high, fills a homegrown spot, covers the whole backline, brings experience, and knows the club better than anyone. Keeping him doesn’t cause any harm as long as he isn’t relied on too much

Liverpool’s Konaté replacement in functionality will likely be Michael Kayode. Immense at recovery defending and very tough to beat in 1v1s. Enough manipulative tendencies to contribute to the attacking phase too.

A calculated ‘guess’ is that Liverpool’s stance on contract renewals has changed significantly and the club appear determined to avoid repeating mistakes of the past. A new contractual structure has been in place for several months with senior figures and recruitment staff aligned on a more consistent approach to negotiations. Existing players such as Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo have already agreed new terms under this framework, while every signing made last summer arrived with the model firmly established. Ibrahima Konaté, however, was unwilling to commit to those terms. My understanding is that Liverpool view his situation as one they do not intend to see repeated. The club recognises it has ultimately left itself exposed, but maintaining consistency across the squad is now considered more important than making exceptions, regardless of a player’s status. That principle extends beyond the current situation. Liverpool are already planning for a number of future contract decisions and remain conscious of how previous scenarios have unfolded. The same thinking applies to several key members of the current squad. Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai may all face important decisions in the year ahead. Liverpool’s position is increasingly clear, players will have opportunities to commit their futures, but if agreements cannot be reached, the club will act accordingly. However, the pairing of Alisson & Virgil van Dijk may be exceptions next summer due to previous scenarios and how they played out but, there is a growing determination within the hierarchy not to lose valuable assets for nothing, nor allow contract situations to dictate the club’s wider strategy. The feeling is that Liverpool are building a healthier, more sustainable environment one based on structure, planning and consistency. I think there is a bigger reason behind that approach, but that’s a conversation for another day.
