"I suddenly remembered a time at a dinner gathering when an elder asked about my younger brother’s development/career.
To be honest, I could feel that they might be a very traditional person,
so I just gave a general, vague answer.
But then they actively asked me if I could show them my brother's Instagram.
Even though I had anticipated various possibilities, I still proudly showed it to them.
As a result, they said such rude, boundary-crossing words right in front of his relative, which I never expected.
The elder said: "Is he a normal person?"
(I continued to explain, telling them about the concept of gender neutrality)
The elder replied: "Oh, so being like that is considered abnormal, right?"
Me: "I don't think so/ I don't agree with you."
There were other elders at the table, and honestly, I could have just endured it and let it pass, but the very next second, I instantly and unintentionally blew up like a volcano.
Very sternly, I stopped them and told them not to speak like that anymore.
Right after, I went to the restroom to calm down, only to find my whole body shaking with anger and my heart beating incredibly fast.
In the end, I left early.
And just by coincidence,
the moment I walked out the door, my brother called me.
The reason was that he knew I was preparing to drive and was afraid I’d be tired or in danger, so he wanted to keep me company by chatting on the phone until I got home.
The moment I heard his voice, I honestly almost burst into tears.
Such a thoughtful, warm, and filial child. Why does he have to be judged and criticized by a stranger who has no relation to him?
